In regards to Brooks, I suppose Johns just confirmed what we already suspected. Hopefully he plays well for us this season and the decision to stay pays off for both parties.

Johns comments is interesting in the fact I don't think Madge has much say in signings moving forward, as it sounds like Madge wanted Brooks gone and then doesn't really comment on Brooks at press conference last week. It seems like he has been told Brooks is here to stay and Sheens might be like I will work with him

I didnt see a lot of Pole last year, but in each of the games that I saw, every one of the minutes he played was 60seconds. Incredibly consistent.

1. Recruit and DEVELOP from within. We are investing in pathway coaching. But need make it really competitive in a way that pushes all players to excel.
2. Bring in leadership, standards and grittiness. Any external recruit should have a psychological profile done and a thorough character test. Priority should be about bringing in strong leaders of good character.

100% agree. I do communication style and personality type testing professionally and have previously offered my services to the club. Nothing has eventuated.

All the good clubs have the senior group who set the standards and teach the younger group and act as the bridge for the coaching group.
The younger group then emerge to become the senior group, and the process continues. They aren't teaching them skills - they are showing them the standards it takes to be at the top of the NRL, not taking shortcuts, never giving up, being professional outside the field etc
It's what that call 'culture'
We have some great juniors coming through - but desperately missing the senior group.
It's funny because 2 years ago we were the oldest team in the nrl, with lots of senior players, possibly teaching the younger group some bad habits.

interesting comments from Matthew Johns on SEN radio this morning in relation to Brooks
Apparently Newcastle were absolutely certain they had Brooks signed and sealed to replace Pearce, then Brooks had discussions with Sheens and stayed with Tigers.
Johns was of the opinion Madge would likely not be coaching us in 2023
This absolutely must have been the case. They were crazy to let Pearce go without an agreement in place with Brooks though.

I think 1 is achievable but I am not sure 2 is while madge is coach. There is a serious smell of desperation around his recruitment

I see Paul Alamoti a young centre from the dogs 18 is off contract end of 2023 he goes pretty well maybe we target him
