When you invest $7 million bucks on a player over 5 years, which is what Moses would be, you expect that player to do a JT, Johns, Smith or even a Wally occasionally. I cannot ever remember Moses being up for those clutch moments. On that basis we should run from the deal. Furthermore I now having real doubts over Moses parting the Red Sea. Im going out on a limb and calling that BS.

I think i'd rather use our money to buy an absolute top line fullback.. I was happy with Moses for 4 years but 5 isn't good business imo.
If any of those guys were available we wouldn’t get them. The only reason we might be able to get Moses is because of paying overs for 5 years. If we don’t want to do that then we can look at paying overs for another experienced half like George Williams or a fullback like RTS or Welsby. Or we go with what we have. When you invest $7 million bucks on a player over 5 years, which is what Moses would be, you expect that player to do a JT, Johns, Smith or even a Wally occasionally. Need to take a zero and a year off any contract offered. Eels won’t even make the 8.Plenty of criticism from Eels fans over Moses’ performance last night. I wonder if the contract situation is playing on his mind? His value certainly didn’t go up after that game.
@avocadoontoast he would be good too
We did, he knocked it back. That’s my point, the really exceptional players are extremely unlikely to come here. I think 1.4 mill was offered to Munster & he didn’t take him long to say “no thanks”, I’ll stay where I know I’ve a great chance to succeed and get paid well”. I don’t think our club could get an elite class player (spine player) without paying massive overs. And even then it’s very unlikely unless their current club had better alternatives. So a guy like Moses, an experienced half who enjoys leading his team around, can kick, has speed & has played some big games is a viable option. It’s that kind of player who could still make a difference that we have some hope of getting to come here. We still have to pay more than we’d like but if the club sticks to a limit then it’s up to him. As long as the club remains disciplined and doesn’t go over what they’re willing to pay then great, let’s give it a crack.$7m for 5 years is very poor value for almost any player and should only be reserved for the truly exceptional players. At this time, I would only offer that money to Munster.
@jedi-tiger RTS would be my main target
RTS, Kennedy, Weeks, Welsby, Suallii and Cobbo (Swap) are the FB’s worth chasing.
@russtutty63 In response to what you’re saying Russ I think it has to be said that the signing of API K has to be seen as a coup for the club, and pretty close to an elite spine signature I’d think.Great foresight and timing.Same applies to I.P though not a spine player but a great acquisition nonetheless.I don’t believe we broke the bank here but correct me if I’m wrong. In relation to Mitch Moses I believe it doesn’t warrant paying Munster money unless you’re seeing Munster outcomes, especially on a long contract.Red flags for mine, but ultimately a matter of opinion, and there’s no shortage of them on this matter..

I hear what you saying, we do need to pays overs to attract even the average players but something about that sort of money for Mitch doesn’t sit well with me. He is a very good half, can kick, can organise, but will he gel with the team and bring success. I say no at that money.
I know we need a bit of skin in the game, but it might also be said that we could rue paying big bickies when trying to hold onto the youngsters that have been earmarked for big things, especially at this juncture of the season.Let’s have a closer look at the young talent over the next few weeks and see what happens.Something invariably presents itself in the course of a season and I would be more inclined to bid for rising stars whether from within or elsewhere.I think we now possess enough experienced heads to forge this path.

Problem is young talent doesn’t want to stay or come to a team that’s always coming in the bottom part of the comp. Need some experienced quality to get us to the top
