We were always going to get a random NSW Level back up half - Wakeham is probably pretty good amongst that group.
Not fussed whether it's top 30 or not.
Thats all good, but IMO on a NSW Cup Contract. I know it cant happen until Rd 10 but I think Id prefer to rely on Will Smith rather than clog up the last roster spot with Wakeham.
This signing kind of makes me wonder why we didn't just keep Jock Madden.

All you have to do is work your way through our top 29 + development + pathways players and see the yawning halves gap you find.
We have just three (yep 3) genuine halves and that includes big D (who in my opinion is a centre) and Smith who is not eligible for 1st grade until round 11.

There was definitely a gap in the roster for another half, in particular for NSW Cup and to cover NRL. Hopefully it’s not NRL contract - there was no press release and even Will Smith got one.

With Thomson going and I reckon they offload TPJ they will find the money. Clearly they need a halfback and might not wait for the young one coming through.

We needed to add depth in the halves, I would have preferred us to sign an NRL level half to increase our depth but that was never going to happen this late in the off season.

He didn't want to stay and be a backup, he was offered a contract.
He's gone to be a back up at Brisbane so I suppose it came down to what kind of offer he was made and what the Club were saying to him.
I think he was told, or realised, that Brooks wasn’t moving on to Newcastle and that other opportunities were worth exploring.

A few whispers around that the Moses saga has now swung our way and he may have put pen to paper, but the announcement is being held back on his request.
Seem to change every second day, so would not put to much faith in this one, but the club seem to be playing their cards very close to their chest so you would think the pots still bubbling on this one.
Personally I think he would be a massive signing even given his history with us. Money aside, playing Sheenball and Benjiball must beat Arthurball
