@garry I think with almost any young player with plenty of talent there comes an element of risk in terms of the contract particularly if you might lose him to another club. If there’s someone better on the market or coming through you might not need to take risks in keeping him. And if there’s a chance you could lose both your starting halves, who are both talented players, that risk becomes greater. I don’t know what we might be offering Moses but I think there’s some risk involved given we really have only Brooks as part of our plan for the future although will he be made big offers from other clubs?
@hsvjones They have left quite a few go and the cap will go up. They also have a some players off contract 2024, Josh Hodgson has a club option, who they might let go and replace with younger guys in the squad
- @helmesy I think you’d be pretty close with that figure. If we offer 4 years it’s $800,000 extra. I’d think already having a good relationship with Benji, Brooks, Doueihi & maybe Sheens might help too although where Doueihi & Brooks are in 2024 we’re not sure just yet.

If Moses comes Brooks is a certainty and unless Doueihi is willing to be a team player and shelve the “I’m only a 6” opinion he will be elsewhere in 24.

Williams and Brooks would be a good pairing with money left over to buy a fullback like Farnworth perhaps

It will be much easier to move past it if we sign an adequate replacement who can organise an attack.
If we miss out on Moses and Williams, who is under contract, then we are in deep trouble.

Any iteration of our halves which contains 7 Brooks is doomed to failure. We absolutely know this for sure.
Apart from that the rest is all pure fantasy.
Welsby is under contract and untried in the NRL where ESL halves have rarely succeeded.
Farnworth is untried at full back and any link with us is just media speculation anyway.
