David Klemmer has an offer on the table from the club worth $2.1m over 3 years, the club willing to pick-up the full tab of his $800K deal for 2023 with the remaining 2 years being $650K.
Knights have asked for Brooks in return but want the club to pick-up the $200k difference, Sheens is keen to coach Brooks & don't see this side of things eventuating.
The Staines/Peachey swap is currently at an impasse, Staines want's longer deal than offered, currently our offer is only for the 2023 season, we may go in for 2024 but not the 3 years he's after.
To address the Nanai talk, from a personal belief I see him staying at the Cowboys, but it is true that come November 1 the club will be having a red hot crack at him, this comes after Liam's Martin management informed the club that his options were either Panthers (which he'll most likely stay) or Parramatta.
Musgrove does have significant interest from the Dragons but he's told the club twice now that he doesn't want to leave & earn his place in the 17.
The hope of getting Spencer Leniu seems all but hope Jakes Simpkin has been discussed as a potential swap but he's also be discussed with Eels also for a Swap with Nathan Brown, we aren't the only club looking at Spencer & his management has been speaking to multiple clubs, Storm are well & truly in the mix here.
John Bateman talks have increased recently after Wigan became more reasonable about a potential transfer fee. Don't be surprised if start being linked to St Helens backrower Joe Batchelor, he's signed for 2023 but recently employed a Australian agent & is keen to give the NRL a crack (Sheens knows this) also young Wigan Forward Morgan Smithies has been discussed.
Expecting some noise around Hastings to be come louder publicly soon as it appears unlikely a deal won't be done prior to November 1.
Thanks for the update Pom a bit depressing looks like Klemmer , is the most likely right now ….
@the_pom Pom , so any chance we get Klemmer without swapping Brooks ? Or does it hinge on swapping Brooks ? Thanks for the updates ….
Doesn't sound overly promising with Hastings
maybe Sheens wants to lock in Brooks and try for Dylan Brown or Moses and thus sacrificing Hastings as a 13 and Douhie as a 6
7. Brooks
6. Dylan Brown
or
7. Moses
6. Brooks
It’s a puzzle …. but I reckon all will be revealed in Sheens own good time.
My guess for 2023 season is that we get Klem, Brown, Stains and Bateman + one other Pom. We Trade Gillard, Peach, Simpkin and hopefully Musgrove (although Poms latest post puts that one in doubt).
That leaves us with either 28 or 29.
Post 2023 it appears things are not looking great for Doueihi and Hastings but anything can happen if Brooks situation point to early exit to the Knights.
@momo-amp-medo On the other forum Pom liked a few comments about a re negotiated Chris Laurence type wests tigers deal for Luke Brooks.
To address the Nanai talk, from a personal belief I see him staying at the Cowboys, but it is true that come November 1 the club will be having a red hot crack at him,
Thanks Pom
@jedi-tiger No expecting anything on him till after the world cup, club waiting to see how he pulls up.
@benji-brasher I believe we are a great chance on getting Klemmer without giving them Brooks. Knights just trying to swing it that way, we aren't asking them to chip in anything for his contract so they get his full amount in cap space for 2023 if they release him
Thanks to The Pom for his update. The news on Leniu was disappointing, I would have thought we were a stronger chance of getting him. Not surprised with Hastings and Doueihi not extending, I have a feeling those two are overvaluing themselves.
If we could just nab Klemmer and Bateman I think that's a massive win. Leniu would have been amazing but it's not surprising he has a lot of options.
