I think Hastings will sign where he gets the most money. His next Contract is an important one.
You're absolutely right about his next contract being an important one which is why I don't believe money will be the only consideration.
Playing at lock has the potential to curtail his career by a couple of years due to the increased potential for collision injuries and concussions and if another team offers him the 7 jersey on decent money, comparable to the Tigers, I reckon it would be a no brainer for him.
He is the best 7 at the club by a country mile I'm jot too sure why we wouldn't play him there.
If we are looking to play a more attacking, open style of football, then the argument could be made that he isn't dangerous enough, has low line breaks, line breaks assists, tries, try assists etc. He is very good organising the play though.
My belief is all out halves have major deficiencies and to get the required skill set for our halves we need 3 people at present to provide them when we should be relying on 2. Each of our halves have a major flaw in their game, Hastings included.
Hastings has deficiencies but he is easily the best half at the club and if he signs elsewhere come November 1st where does that leave us.
Talk of Moses, Munster or Brown to the Tigers is just fanciful nonsense designed to bump up their respective asking prices. Moses and Brown in all likelihood stay at Parra and Munster either stays at Melbourne or goes to Redcliffe for the coin.
That would leave us trying to assemble a halves pairing from Brooks, Douhei and Laurie who hasn't played a single minute in the halves for us and this petrifies me.
Retaining Hastings is an absolute must for us to have any chance of being successful in the short to medium term.
I don't disagree with that, I'd be looking to sign him tomorrow on the right deal. I'd even play him as a half, but can see the argument to play him as a 13.
In memory of Geoff Chisholm (1965-2022)
Munster re-signs with the Storm (Fox League reports). My nudie run down Mary Street is safe.

"We thought we had him"............
Re Munster, it was a nice fantasy but back to reality. I guess you could say that if we are continuing to be a development club that we need to focus on developing our own and sprinkling in experience, not breaking the bank on stars so we can keep the best of our own crop.
I just hope that we can add at least another prop for 2023, that’s our most pressing need.

@helmesy It was fun being associated with a possible Munster signing tho highly unlikely as it was …I have confidence that a big fish is not to far away, in saying that the club has 2 pretty big fish already coming next season I think many do not realise how much these two are going to transform the team .The path way system is really the only way our club will survive and survive well as Penrith has shown but a couple of big fish still need to be hooked .
Munster was always going to be extremely unlikely, but at least we had a crack.
It's good that the Munster situation has been resolved fairly swiftly without another three months of will he/won't he before the inevitable disappointment.
Now we need to face the reality that all of our current haves can sign with other clubs in three weeks time with no realistic options out there for us to replace them.
This situation is becoming critical.

It's the same situation for many halves in the comp? Players who can negotiate Nov 1 include Adam Reynolds, Ezra Mam, Jamal Fogarty, Matt Burton (despite paper talk that he's prepared to extend with Bulldogs), Nicho Hynes, Josh Schuster, Tom Dearden, Bitchell Moses, Jarome Luai, Luke Keary etc. etc.
