Brandon Tumeth has signed a new two-year contract with the club which sees him elevated to Wests Tigers' top-30 playing roster.

The Balmain junior joined Wests Tigers as a 15-year-old in 2018 and was rewarded at the start of this season with a 'development contract’.

Tumeth, who is yet to make his NRL debut, played this season in Wests Tigers Jersey Flegg Cup side and for Western Suburbs Magpies in the NSW Cup. He also helped NSW to victory, alongside Wests Tigers teammate Justin Matamua, in this year's U/19s State of Origin.

The 19-year-old back-rower is delighted to extend his stay at the club. "It's all I've ever wanted, to play NRL one day with the Wests Tigers, and hopefully I'm getting closer to that," said Tumeth.

“I've been with the club for a few years now and I love the place. My teammates, the staff, the fans, our new facility, everything about the club is great.

“I'm over the moon to have signed a new deal as part of the top squad and I can't wait to get stuck in.”

Incoming coach Tim Sheens says Brandon is another example of how good development programs work.

"It's tremendous to see a young man come through the junior rep teams and get to where is now," said Sheens.

“It's a great example to other juniors in our system of what is possible with hard work and patience."

“We all look forward to being a part of Brandon's continued development over the coming years."

NRL players union are pushing for 500k exemptions for long service players in the collective bargaining agreement

If that gets approved then I can see why Sheens is keen on keeping Brooks if it can shave 500k off the cap

I expect it wouldn’t work like that. I’d expect something like $100-150k off each player up to a total of $500k

You reckon we need an old slow winger? Sure maybe cheaper than nofo but so would tupou be. We need to focus elsewhere for our limited roster spots IMO

@tiger5150 the article didn't say that except the exemption per player is up to $500k but will see

Reports on Facebook saying we’re about to sign Curtis Sironen (2 years) and Josh Mansour (1 year).

It’s April fools day in September surely.🫣😬

How good would it be if the rumours are mansour

But the club come out and announce Munster.

Please make up for a very bad year, by coming out with some big signings 🙏🙏🙏

@helmesy If there needs to be evidence of why this club are such losers this is it ! Honestly 2 has Beens taking up 2 roster spots … making Sheens the coach is a decision that will haunt this club .. where is the path for the up and coming youth that’s right blocked by has beens .If this pans out I am struggling to continue supporting this rabble !

Couple of points on the Mansour signing. He qualifies for the long serving player allowance at any club so you'd almost imagine he is virtually free cap wise. Also is a noted great trainer and professional which reminds me of the Sattler and Beuttner signings Sheens made 1st time around - a great guide to young players on how to be a professional especially as he would likely spend most of the year with our young players in nsw cup squad.

We already have 2 players qualify for the Allowance so doesn't make any difference.

I can't imagine we would sign Mansour so I call this rumour as rubbish.

Only if both are still here next year and also cap rules aren't locked down yet for next season
