Maybe we should advertise Peachey to Gus ...I can still remember watching him making a speech about how much Penrith were going to miss him when he left for the Titans

Maybe a trade for Luke Thomson?

Mick Potter ??

To be honest that makes sense doesnt it? On both sides? For example god forbid we signed Barrett as head coach, Hastings would presumably be out of here?

Hopefully that’s not a bridge that has to be crossed.

No - but people have said Cilardo would like Barrett as his assistant.

Hastings and Barrett don't get on.....

Top 8 2023

For mine if it meant the difference between getting Ciraldo, Hastings can walk.

Ciraldo  & Barrett would be a great combo for us.

Wests Tigers made a tough call regarding a change of coach earlier this month - now they face another massive decision.

Skipper James Tamou, who turns 34 later this year, wants to play on with the club in 2023 and officials have to decide whether to give him a new deal or cut him loose.

Tamou is one of the five captains appointed by sacked coach Michael Maguire at the start of the season but it is he who is the public face of the playing group.

He is extremely popular with the team, especially the young Islander players, and is a fine role model and that will all play a part in the Tigers' decision.

But Tamou has 14 years of hard slog in the front row under his hood - and that has taken a toll on his body.

His best football is behind the former Test and NSW Origin prop and the Tigers have to make the hard call of whether they are better off going with a younger player or sticking with the veteran hardman.

This week the club gave under-performing utility Tyrone Peachey - who only joined the club this year - permission to test the market.

I don’t have a problem extending Tamou on modest salary. At 34 I hardly think he’s got much time left to go to super league. If ciraldo comes it would be a great combination to bring through the young members and also make it easier for more Penrith players  across to tigers (come play for your favourite assistant coach, play with several Penrith boys ie Tamou, naden, Laurie and make it Penrith 2.0)

None of our forwards bar Stef should even be considered extending.

Tamou ran out of steam after about five weeks of the season and has been diabolical ever since.

Re-signing him for next season would be an atrocious decision.

We are never going to get impact or big numbers out of Tamou, but the fact remains we cant simply get rid of everyone as we are seeing now after cutting Mikaele & LL. I do think Tamou contributes to a good culture at the club and is reliable back up. At a cheap rate I'd have him.

I think its actually a good sign that he wants to re-sign. If there was a poisonous environment in the club he would look elsewhere or pull the pin. Tamou has frequently talked about the spirit in the club and wanting to help, maybe he is telling the truth walking his talk.
