Payten has cleared things up, I think showing WT management handled it appropriately:
"We asked the question again a month ago, and both times it was a no.
"We got a call out of the blue from the Tigers' recruitment the day before yesterday. We had to look at our figures and within 45 minutes to an hour we gave them a call back and verbally agreed. Within 45 minutes to an hour there was a public statement put out by the other party.
"It's not signed off on yet, but I expect it will be.
"There are still some things to happen. He needs to get a medical, he needs to sign his termination clause, and we haven't actually drawn up a contract yet either. That's what's happened and that's where it's at.”
So Wests Tigers management did jump the gun before all the paperwork was done. No surprise there. Great work the lawyer Chair who has absolutely no clue how to run a Rugby League club.
Reports are that Nathan Brown is free to leave the Eels. Should we sign him?

If true (of course it may not be), Lee and Pascoe should sack themselves. It would be staggeringly stupid. For a lawyer it is incredible.

Only available at end of 22 ...but yes we should look seriously at him
Who will be left forward wise at the Eels lol

Call me naive but I’m not buying Payten’s explanation. If we initiated the release it would have been through Luch’s manager first. Since when is releasing a player from his club contract conditional upon another club agreeing to take him

I’ll take him. Short term contract of 2 years.

Part of the conversation is missing ....they approached us twice ...second time about a month ago ...according to Payten
Nathan Brown? Yes please!

I doubt we'll see many signings until the new coach is appointed- as that was one of the reasons (not excuses) to make the call now, to give time for the new coach to decide on the new squad prior to November.
Which makes me question how will fill out to 30 for this year and why did we release Luciano and Mikaele

The Tigers, who Brown made his NRL debut at playing one game in 2013 have reportedly been approached about securing Brown’s services.
However, the Tigers have introduced a development mandate at the club and are reluctant to make too many contract moves until Tim Sheens appoints a new head coach after Michael Maguire’s axing.

Told ya
Last year we had mix up when Hartigan left and Sheens took over - Luciano manager said no one got back to him.
No we have a gap in recruitment until we get a new coach.
The wests tigers page hasn't been updated since January, but I believe we now have 2 top 30 spaces to fill by August?

No.
He's not as tough a player that he once was, that playing style takes a toll and he is done. If we're to sign a 29yo forward he better be on the top of his game!
