I was thinking about the Jahream contract situation. Seems to me we have an opportunity here to negotiate a new contract for him given he has a new manager. Why not offer a new 4 year deal starting 2026. He’d be 27 at the end of that contract so if his form is good there’d be another opportunity for a very good contract after that. As he’s on about $700,000 now why not offer $3.2 mill for 4 years? If we were to activate the clause he’d pick up 1.6 mill next 2 years anyway. 4 year deal offers security & his manager a commission if I’m not mistaken. Plus it’s stability in the spine. With Bula, Luai, Latu (or AD) and Api for the next 3 years at least at around $3.2 million it lets us build around them. And with a new broadcast deal in 2028 there’s a good chance the Cap could increase significantly so that $800,000 is probably a good deal for the club.
@dirty-reds This kid can play and a big future is awaiting…these are the types of players that can turn the club around .Young talented and willing as a supporter this is the signings I want ..not players wanting a retirement nest egg but that’s this club !
@russtutty63 Not the preferred bit either at this stage would be a good short term deal … the pack still needs a dominate prop.
The only dominant props I’d be looking at aren’t available or they’ll be beyond what we can offer. Hetherington is tough but a bit slow. I think he could give you a good 15 minutes but we have Hunt who can do that arguably more effectively. Pole in my mind is also more of an impact player. Terrell, Twal, Sione & Bunty could all do a job starting or in the case of Sione & Bunty bench middles. I’m not even sure Hetherington would fit in that well with the Tigers culture, same Elliott to be fair. I think Kamikamica would fit in ok as we have a few Fijian boys who would know him well. And Tui would be someone other boys would look up to. But it also depends on how long & how much money involved for any of them. I will say this regarding both Elliott & Hetherington, they’re both nearing the end of their careers, so is Tui, but they could have 2 or 3 good years left if they did well next year. There’s a great incentive for those guys to play well next year if they were to give themselves a good chance of another good paying contract. It could mean the difference between earning $400,000 over that time or $1 million. I think we need a starter and both Tui and Elliott could do that.@russtutty63 Not the preferred bit either at this stage would be a good short term deal … the pack still needs a dominate prop.
I think Tui would be the one to have a crack at because if Terrell is injured, fingers crossed he isn’t, I think Tui can fill in at starter a bit more effectively than others might. Roberts or Sione could play at 13 with Twal the other starting prop. Not ideal but fair. The only dominant props I’d be looking at aren’t available or they’ll be beyond what we can offer. I’m not sure what’s happening with Ativalu Lisati at the Storm. I believe he’s now engaged to Chris Pio so perhaps he might move back up to Sydney at some point as I think Chris is contracted to the Tigers for a couple more years yet. We’ll see what happens there.
Club have signed a young Queensland cup player .. played 10 games from the Clydesdales Ryder Huth to play in the NSW cup next season don’t know if this is old news.

Agree, I really rate him. Only asking about his preference given we already have two very good left sided centres (May and potentially Makasini). If he's comfortable enough on the RHS then go hard at him.

Yes, be great off the bench for us and can cover a few positions in the forward pack. A good motor with his line speed in defence, tackles well, runs the ball strongly. Has footy IQ which we don’t have. Also can he bring his wife with him.

In 7 of the last 9 seasons he played at least 18 games a year, 2020 & 2025 were years where he suffered injury. So only one of the past 5 years had he not played at least 18 games, not bad for a middle. Jack Bird in comparison had played 18 games or more in only 3 of the previous 7 years before joining the Tigers.
Elliott has just turned 31 and played 173 games. There’s no reason he couldn’t go around another 2-3 years if he has recovered well from his torn bicep. And the incentive is there for him to do well if he wants a good contract after next season.
In the rd 5 game v Dogs Elliott played 75 mins, making 50 tackles & running 130 metres, passing 14 of his 27 receipts according to the NRL website. I think it shows he has something to offer but already having Twal, Seyfarth, Bird(?) & maybe Roberts he might be surplus to requirements.
