One thing that the tigers do need is a halfback. Reynolds or DCE would be good but in the mean time I think we need a backrower. See what plays out in the coming months. But let’s just get behind the 17 that get selected and push to stay in the 8.

I’ve been thinking more about any potential swap deal for Galvin & my original suggestion of Galvin to Eels, Brown to Knights & Pearce-Paul to Tigers to me makes the most sense. All 3 teams are rebuilding or building, the Knights mainly due to cap pressure have had to change things up. The Knights also just signed young Mason Teague for the remainder of the season. It leaves them with Lucas, Frizell, Croker, Elliott, Pearce-Paul, Cant & Teague as young back-ups. They would obviously like to hold on to Pearce-Paul but they have depth in the position & getting Brown over early would surely be more beneficial right now. The Eels would love a running 6 to play in the halves with Moses & Galvin is a strong left sided player & Brown seems under pressure somewhat right now. And I think Galvin would not want to travel too far from his family given his age. And there’s also the link with Mitchell Moses through the manager.
That’s my guess but I did think Galvin extending at the Tigers was a no brainer so what the hell do I know.

@russtutty63 That does make sense; however, I don't know if Pearce-Paul is adequate compensation for losing Galvin, especially given the long amount of time he still has on his contract.

Maybe with some financial compensation added in it would be worth investigating.

Is Pearce Paul the quality we need? I guess it comes down to cost. Pearce Paul at 500k or olakuatu at 900k. We have some quite good contracts on the books (Api, May, the Fainu’s, even Skelton is only on 230k) we might be able to afford a strike player like olakuatu. Assuming Makasini is worth the hype and that starford maintains this form then you are probably running out of spots You want to upgrade:

1. Bula

2. Skelton

3. Makasini

4. Toa

5. Taruva

6. luai

7. latu

8. May

9. api

10. Pole

11. Sam Fainu

12.

13.

14. TDS

15. Bird

16. Hunt

17. Seyfarth/Twal

I assume we are well under the cap given all the players we have let go. TDS, Bula, Latu will need an upgrade but you will also be phasing out Api at some point. An olakuatu/Sam Fainu 2RF pairing also reduces some pressure on the need for top tier centres as the big targets in the back row draw defenders.

It’s time this getting out of contracts early stops ..IMO the club plays hardball there are rules in place for anti tampering , this should be a test case for the future of all NRL clubs. If Moses wants to play hardball ball himself get this into the courts . It’s easy to fabricate  lies in a media release it’s a different story under oath . Something is not right here there has to be another club involvement, Richo needs to take this to the end player managers are ruining the game for there own profit and clubs need to adhere to the rules other wise it’s just open slather ,I read that the Tigers management were pissed well off you go a contract is a contract plain and simple and the anti tapering laws are in place !I do not want a player swap or money I want these player managers and clubs finally flushed out for what they are !

@jedi-tiger When is the penny going to drop Galvin is going nowhere he is contracted  ..this has a long way to play out. If anything I would be asking 1 million as a transfer fee that’s what he thinks he is worth a season no player swaps ..player swaps are for losers with no tangible asset to bargain with news flash the Tigers have a real tangible asset!

I understand that we are all upset with the decision Galvin made and how it has gone down. I feel we are still paying a price for bad management in the past. While Richo’s in charge I am confident he will do what is best for the club. We still need to be careful on the treatment of Galvin as he would still have mates here, a player manager looking after Bula. I hope they let it settle down in the next few weeks with players not to comment anymore and the club can work out the best deal to move the squad forward. Hopefully we will soon be far enough away from the old management this will not occur again!

As far as edge backrowers go Olakauatu is arguably the best. But would they be willing to trade him for Galvin who has great potential no doubt. I think Olakauatu is also signed long term as opposed to Pearce-Paul. When I looked at possible scenarios I looked at clubs who were most likely to trade & who might have a player who could benefit our club. Pearce-Paul is only 24 & has played for his country. His best footy is in front of him. He’s off contract next year & the Knights are reshaping their squad. I think the Knights would benefit having Brown there now, The Eels might see letting him go now as ok if they have a suitable replacement & we’d have an international backrower on the right edge. Seyfarth could then play on the bench or could simply add depth to our squad which needs it.

I agree with your thinking I’m just if the view that we can leverage a bigger recruit given we hold quite a valuable card (Galvin is still on an 18month contract at low dollars). If Moses wants to move Galvin he will need Wests Tigers to approve the move ie he can’t even negotiate until November and can’t play until 2027 unless we approve! You might be right that knights would let KPP go early if they need to but Manly are facing a diabolical halves outlook given DCE is leaving and they let all their promising halves leave. You choose a half over a 2RF any day of the week so I think Manly absolutely are in the mix. Manly would be a better destination for KPP after they sign Galvin and let olakuatu go to tigers.

Manly has apparently ruled themselves out as a destination for Galvin.

It’s Eels, for sure. Gould though will have a go if a deal isn’t already done with Parra.

Anyway, onwards and upwards.

I think the trade I’m proposing might also allow us to front load a contract (maybe Pearce-Paul), bring Heath or Porter into the top 30 for the rest of the year, upgrades to TDS & Sione & still have money to land a player of quality for next year. All assumptions on my part.
