why waste a valuable top 30 spot on someone who could play NRL already? Have we seen the end of Charlie Staines ??
They have signed another couple of outside backs so maybe there is a limit on cup contracts and they needed to create room for these guys?
Odd move after his crap game on the weekend. In Rico we trust I guess.
There’s little doubt in my mind Richo, Benji etc are looking at adding a top class player to the squad, possibly 2. Richo has often spoke of adding some cream and we’ve done that with Romey. We got lucky with Terrell not being wanted by Robbo but Terrell wasn’t an international or Origin rep so I wouldn’t say he was “cream” and at $650,000 a year the price tag probably suggests that as well. So who do we target as there’s still approx a million left in the kitty? Assuming Lachie upgrades it might put a dent in it but perhaps that’s not until 2027 if it happens. It’s likely Taylan May but is he “cream”? I think why not look at making a play for Kotoni Staggs? Is he the best centre in the game right now? 27 in October and played 122 games. His best should be around now and the next 2 or 3 years.

Faatape being signed must be so we can fill out the top 30 by June. It is underwhelming but he is a low cap hit. Apart from Taylan May, there isn't much talent at centre currently available. He is the right player for a backup/developmental centre. There are other players that we need to shed first.
