Five year contract offered reported for Galvin. One million dollars per year.

Will he sign it? Not sure.

If he is being advised correctly he will, it's a perfect situation for him, gets upgraded this year and next and then earns 1m per year, he will be in his absolute prime at 23 - 24 yrs old when the contract ends and if he keeps progressing on the same trajectory, he will be in line for a massive deal. If he says no, then I guess we are all in on Latu and Galvin plays more of a bit part for the next 2 years.

It’s very strange that Moses is leaking the $1m contract story to the press without accepting it. It just intensifies the whole negative story line and costs us focus and potentially results.

If he doesn't sign it by June then start playing Latu over him.

Personally I think Latu has more to offer in his game play then Galvin. And if Galvin does leave I would be putting Latu in the 7 jumper and Jarome back in the 6.

I'm on the fence about Latu v Galvin. June would be enough time for Galvin to mull it over and if he doesn't accept that then he doesn't intend to stay. Then rip the bandaid off. I don't think Latu in 7 would be a good idea straight away but. Maybe put him at 6 then later on swap he and Luai

@tigerlily I really can not see another club offering that amount of money at this stage . This Saturday night will show if Galvin is a 1 mill a year player playing against a top rated side with no side kick. … for a Million a season he should be running the team around the park . His manager is basically demanding that money so as a prospective employer I want to see the goods . This pressure has been put on this kid by his manager ,parents and peanut journos and other clubs types hyping it all up . IMO At 6’4 and will be filling out that frame he is destined for the back row now that is a lot of cash for a back rower . My advice to the club be careful what you wish for !

@canberratiger I am getting the Teddy vibe here , a deadline has to be advised or the club could get stung again! Teddy knew he was going and dragged it out hence Paps moved on and the club had air as a fullback .

When Isaac Moses players come off contract there is only one path for them - sign with a club where another Isaac client is coach. There is only one or two recent exceptions to this. Kotoni Staggs is with Moses and is about to re-sign with the Broncos. Mitch Moses also re-signed with Parramatta.

It's a deliberate tactic. Listen to Tommy Talau on Bloke in a Bar for proof. When he talks about coming off contract at WT he says 'my manager came to me and said I can get you a contract at Manly why don't you join them."

John Bateman is another classic case. He was all set to go to Souths in December but Isaac pressured Todd Payten into getting him a start for the Cowboys and next thing Bateman knows he is moving his family up there.

I'd personally wait until Manly and Parramatta sign their halves for 2026. At that point there are less NRL halves spots available so a lack of other available choices may lead him to re-signing with us.

It seems like Sticky is not going to fight to keep Fogarty so Manly will take him for 2 years on big money. Im not sure who the Eels will go after but they need a big signing.

Exactly right. Large has already left cos he would have been stuck behind Galvin. Wouldn't be surprised if Latu took it as disrespect that he is clearly the backup now

After 4 rounds my crystal ball is telling me:

  • pole and May will burn out mid season through over use. They are pumping out great numbers but the under use of sione and hunt will lead to injury or flat periods.
  • the fan base will turn on Galvin. He is playing exactly how you would expect a teenager to play…energetic, erratic, limited game sense. That’s fine, but with a drawn out contract negotiation, or a successful contract on big bickies, expectations will be huge and he (or anyone) will be unlikely to live up to them.
  • In addition to the above, latu will break the shackles and have a couple of huge games, placing further pressure on Galvin (and benji and the club)

I tend to agree. As I said on the pod, what’s the point of having roster spots and money to spend when there are obviously deficiencies and holes that need to be plugged. What’s going on with Taylan May? Surely there’s a forward at another club looking for a first grade opportunity?

Regarding Latu, he’s got his chance, fingers crossed for him and us that he snatches it.

it is quite apparent that Pole has taken up the challenge that Tyrell has laid down and its quite impressive to see. I still believe that Benji's use of the interchange when there is an early injury tends to fall apart, and he gets very conservative. Not surprising as this is something that will only improve with in-game experience. Hunt had a poor game against the wahs, only because the timing of him coming on was a period where we saw little ball. Sione was very ordinary when he replaced Samuela, he was often out of position in defense, however had a few decent hit ups, he is a middle not an edge player. We really need a good second rower, more than anything else this is the position that will unlock this team, a big body like a samuela, olakuato, kikau type. I'm not overly concerned with Pole and May getting burned out, there will be the odd game where due to injuries or momentum we will need them to play big minutes, however I think the general target would be 60-65mins for May and 40-50mins for Pole. We also have a decent spread in our bye's this season so that will help.

The 2 people I am most critical of in that game are Faataape and Starford, they both seemed uninterested at times and their slow reaction or lack of reaction to events where we were at risk cost us the game. I can see why Faataape has been replaced by Luke and in reality, he should never see first grade at the tigers again, even those kickoffs where he had the slide to catch the ball were only because he was slow to react and showed little urgency.
