I think we would have had the opportunity to get him when Klemmer’s exit was being negotiated. Thus I don’t think he is on our radar at all.

Parra have Cartwright and matterson sitting in reserve grade. Both 30yr olds. Any interest for the vacant right 2RF position?
I hate Matterson, however he has some great skills as a 2RF, I would however only offer this year plus a club option for next yr...if he cant come this year than no.

I think Matterson is a talented player (what a shame we lost him), but is definitely a bit odd and burned his bridges here I think.

Matterson played with Benji in 2019 and by all accounts he was dissatisfied with Maguire and the admin.

But I wouldn’t say no to him coming back with stipulations in his contract for 12mths or so.
My guess on matterson was that it was always about money. He came to us from Roosters reserve grade to get a starting spot. He massively outperformed as we were a terrible squad and he did well. He wanted a contract upgrade and we said no so he threw his toys out of the cot and went to eels. Then at eels he chose to sit on the sidelines rather than pay the fine for whatever he did in the GF and contributed to them blowing their next season. He doesn’t strike me as the sharpest tool in the shed but he likes a dollar and is a good player. He would be great on our right edge if he still has a positive relationship with Benji.

I wouldn't want to play alongside a bloke happy to miss multiple weeks to save a few bucks. He's a very selfish player imo. Not what we need imo
3 games in and stef has been no better than when he played with us, in fact I would say he has not yet played as well as he did when he was on his game with us. Bateman seems to be worse and Ice is almost invisible on the field. Funny how the commentators are quick to effusively praise ex tigers players when they do well at new clubs however crickets when they are ordinary....maybe player developmen under benji is not as bad as the "experts" say. Even Brooks got found out when he was asked to be the dominant half.
The talk about TDS being at risk for when he gets to Nov1 just seem so bizarre. We are his junior club, his family is deeply involved with football in the area, we signed him up and promoted his career well before he was anywhere near first grade, he is behind one of the best 9s of his generation who only has limited time left in first grade, we will pay him his worth. I’ve never been more confident that a player wil resign.
