I still think Bateman best to go Souths but unless they free up a spot or two, if Lodge goes there, then he might end up with us again. But anything could happen between now & Christmas.Personally, I think that's unlikely as Bennett knows footballers who are team players and will add to the harmony and culture of the group. Doueihi is not that guy. He's more likely to end up at STGI for no reason other than Flanagan can tout it as a gain. It won't be, IMO.I'm just going to put this out into the universe and see where it lands.........
Hunt => Roosters
Illias => Dragons
Doueihi = > Souffs
They got Gutherson, add in Doueihi and Bateman please Flanno 🙏
They do have a few backrowers so maybe not. I’m sure Richo will work out something.I still think Bateman best to go Souths but unless they free up a spot or two, if Lodge goes there, then he might end up with us again. One shoe drops.....
Manly has cooled on the prospect of Bateman.
I think we might be stuck with this barnacle.
I can see a path to Bateman ending up at the Knights, pending Hastings being moved.
I think its more likely than not Hastings changes clubs this summer and he might be an option at Souths now that Illias has gone.
For backrowers, Newcastle currently have Frizzell (player option for 2025) who they don't want to re-sign. Then they have Kai Pearce Paul who is off contract for 2026.
The only players Newcastle are going to sign are Moses clients. Their coach is a Moses client. Their head of recruitment Peter O'Sullivan is a long term ally of Moses. The club's newly appointed head of pathways, Adam Blair is another Moses client.
If WT could move two of their top 30 players then
- re-sign Sione Fainu
- offer Frizzell a two year contract for 2025/26
then that would help us negotiate Bateman's departure (to Newcastle or otherwise)
There was talk last year about Frizzell joining WT because he and Benji were close?

Good call Mickey, I think there is a lot of logic here. Moses owns Newcastle.
I'd love Frizzell 2025, 2026 would be stretching it (pushing 35), but a better player now than Bateman.
Have mentioned in previous post that Frizell would be my next target if JB ended up elsewhere. Hope it happens but have doubts. I think, going by Richo’s comments anyway the club was keen on Hetherington so I get the feeling Frizell was not something they were entertaining. Of course they may have something else in mind and can only hope it’s Frizell.Manly has cooled on the prospect of Bateman.

It’s a pretty weird set of circumstances right now with all the players off contract in 2025 yet to be resigned. Haven’t heard of many resigning, Nikora & Trindall at Sharks only ones there as far as I know. A few at Souths, Knights, Broncos, pretty much most clubs have 2 or more still to resign for 26 and/or beyond. Most will probably resign but should imagine there’ll be a few major movements next few weeks.

If I could sign anyone right now it would be Nikora. He would be perfect for us. I remember a few years ago a photo of him sitting with pascoe so he must have considered us at one stage.
Hunt signs with the endless salary cap that is the Broncos, Roosters let Mey go think their getting Hunt and end up with eggs...bad luck Roosters my heart bleeds for you

Ah....misread
No excuses for Madge now, has a squad most coaches would dream of. Best he’s had given they should’ve won a GF 2 years ago. How they can keep Hetherington is beyond me but expect they’ll lose one of the centres, probably Cobbo this year or, more likely, next.
Good signing for them. Makes sense to go all in whilst they have them all on decent contracts, and before Reynolds retires. He and Hunt probably only have a couple of years left, so all in for the short term.
Might be a tough rebuild after that though.

Yeah no love lost for the Chooks! But we can be sure they are working some power plays for big signings with the amount of cap they'll have. Galvin would be an obvious target.
The Wests Tigers are reportedly in talks with boom playmaker Lachlan Galvin over a contract extension to tie him to the club long-term.
Galvin is contracted until the end of 2026 and is not eligible to negotiate with rivals until November 1 next year for 2027 and beyond.
But the Tigers don’t want to risk losing their star five-eighth, who has the potential to be a 10-year plus player for the Concord club.
Tigers CEO Shane Richardson revealed on Behind the Roar, that the club are currently in talks with Galvin to lock him up with a long-term contract extension.
“We’re working closely with Galvin, his family and his agent about extending him in the new year,” Richardson said on Behind The Roar.
The 19-year-old is set to earn $600,000 a season over the next two years, but given his development, he could command $800,000 plus on the open market from 2027 onwards.
Galvin scored four tries in 21 games for the Tigers in his rookie season after bursting onto the NRL scene in Round 1.
The skillful five-eighth finished 2024 as a member of the Prime Minsters team that beat Papua New Guinea prior to the Pacific Championships and is considered a rep player of the future for NSW and Australia.
The extension talks come six months after reports Galvin asked the club from a release, as the Tigers moved towards a third straight wooden spoon in 2024.
But Benji Marshall allayed fears Galvin wanted out of the Tigers and it now appears he could sign a long-term extension in the new year.
“(Galvin’s parents) made it clear that he wants to stay and he wants to be here and he’s with us, with our vision moving forward,” Marshall said at the time.
“That’s all that needs to be said. He’s going nowhere.”
