Has anyone heard any updates on big NAS’s transfer news? There was talk we were interested a while back. If we’re changing our squad any further I really hope we’re focussing on the forwards. I think the additions of Luai, Turuva, Skelton & hopefully a fit Olam & Bula will see our backs at least hold their own next year. Just need that platform first!

NAS is 100/1.

There’s always a chance. For example Garry might embrace a future Flanghan appointment at the club, Steve might accept missing the 8, Eddie might reappear for a pod and I might stop saying “physicality” 😂

Anyone heard any news on Sione Mata’utia? 29 next year, been a good edge back rower in the UK. If no Bateman would anyone consider him over maybe 1 or 2 years? Could still have a crack at Wilton or Nikora next year as he wouldn’t take up much cap space.

This was in September, retirement is mentioned but he could be available

I'm hoping for NAS but expecting Rudolph.

I may accept someone called flanghan by I will never accept Flanagan.

Plenty of experience, tough & may still have a good year or two in him.

I’d have him over Bateman

I’m not sure if this kind of thing is allowed under the anti-tampering laws but I wonder if the Tigers have thought of going to the Sharks & offering them Bateman at say $350,000 the next 2 years. And asking if they’d be willing to release Wilton to us, we pay full freight for him, probably around $400,000 next year. We could incentivise the deal for Wilton by offering him maybe $500,000 the following 2 years.  It would free up a little money for the Sharks enabling them to maybe keep one of their star players who can talk to other clubs Nov.

And a Sharks pack of:

AFB
Brayley
Kaufusi
Nikora
Bateman
McInness

is still a strong pack.

Not a bad idea. I think we’re going to have to deal with someone to get Bateman off our books.

I think Bateman might be better at that club anyway and on $300,000-$400,000 it'd be a decent deal for the Sharks. And Bateman could have a nice sea change. Win, win I'd say.

Why muck around with Wilton when Nikora is off Contract at the same time? Id love the Tigers to have a BIG go at Nikora. He is exactly what we need (after buying one or two props).
