Right edge is the priority surely.
Bird wants to play lock and we are using Latu off the bench at lock too. So that leaves 7 front rowers fighting it out for 4 spots in the 17.
Meanwhile we have no specialist right backrower. Not one in the club.

Our props are rubbish.

I knew that would be one reply. The quality of the 7 front row options is irrelevant when you have no roster spots or limited roster spots. You simply can't keep adding middle forwards. You have to hope that Hunt goes good, along with Pole and Sione reaching their potential. That's the situation we have created.

God, what a waste of money and spot. Hoping he moves on.

Sione isn't even signed for 2025, we cannot go into next season with the current props or we will finish bottom 4.

I'm counting Sione. He is a must resign before we think about any outside player IMO
Just confirming, if a club wants to move a contracted player on and there are no suitors, the club can simply pay out the contract can’t they? There’s no penalty to the club re salary cap etc?

Pretty sure in that case the total amount goes onto the salary cap (the player paid out AND the new player you buy). Unless of course the player is "medically retired" in which case they cant go and play elsewhere.

That seems unfair as this gives a player the chance to get a payout here and secure another contract elsewhere (in other words getting paid twice).
So, in other words, you give Naden all he’s owed and he is a free agent. He then signs with someone else and can get paid by them too.

It is the way it has to be, otherwise it is open to rorting by clubs. It would allow clubs to sign players to 5 year contracts, pay them out after 3 and not have that included in the cap.
If we have space in the cap this year, the smart thing to do would be to pay a player like Naden out and have the included in this years Cap. We have about 2 weeks to do this if we have room.

Sport Confidential: Shane Richardson’s cryptic “crocodile roll” warning to John Bateman
Wests Tigers CEO Shane Richardson has called out John Bateman questioning the Englishman’s willingness to join the club in the “crocodile roll” that lies ahead.
John Bateman has been told that he will need to toe the line at the Wests Tigers next year or face the consequences amid fresh speculation over his future.
Bateman is currently in England preparing for a Test series against Samoa, having finished the season on a loan deal with Super League side Warrington.
He is due to return to the Tigers for the start of next season but there has been talk he could be on the move given his relationship with coach Benji Marshall.
Tigers chief executive Shane Richardson said Bateman’s future is in his own hands and there would be an expectation that he – along his teammates – fall into line.
Wests Tigers CEO Shane Richardson (main) has read the riot act to John Bateman (inset).
“We don’t want any player who doesn’t want to be at the club for the crocodile roll that lies ahead and that applies to every player including John Bateman,” Richardson said.
“If he’s not comfortable with the club and the direction Benji is taking us, that is a decision for him.”
Bateman has two years left on a contract that is believed to pay him excess of $650,000 a season. That won’t stop the Tigers and Marshall from sending him back to NSW Cup if they feel he isn’t buying into the club’s ethos.
