Bizarre that douhie got a top 30 contract for 2025. Without even playing a game! Just terrible roster management from Benji and Richo. Make him work for it! Make him play the position you want him to play!

I would be VERY happy for Doueihi to be gone, Im his second harshest critic after Garry..............but....I can make a very easy case for signing him on that Contract. It was reported that he is on slightly higher than minimum Contract. You need someone on these numbers and if AD is your lowest paid player, then typically your roster is in great shape.

Naden & Sullivan are worse Contracts on the books, but I dont want AD anywhere near first grade. A minimum wage player is back up only and AD is great back up.

That argument doesn't work though when you have limited roster spots. It is the Roster spot that is the issue not the salary cap space.

I disagree. If you disgregard salary, then you just want your 30 best players and I would strongly argue AD is a better player than Feledy, Tumeth and a few others.

Im splitting hairs. I would like him gone

Feledy and Tumeth weren't signed 6 months ago when we knew we needed the spot to transform the roster this summer.

Understood and agreed

Feledy has some mongrel but he is clearly undersized for a first grade centre that doesn’t have the athletic ability of a Holmes or lomax. We went a decade buying undersized outside backs that were decent enough in the juniors but were never big enough for first grade. Hopefully that’s changing.

tumeth is another kid who at best ends up as a Garner type value player that gets the best out of himself in his mid 20s after moving around a few times. These kids should not be on top 30 contracts. It has to stop.

We just need to identify the players we need and recruit them for 2026. Quite unlikely we get the names we need for 2025 at this point.

Yep, and with 30 spots used for 2025 there’s no point looking

Douhie's top 30 spot was a true waste of space as is Sullivan's

Surely they both have some trade value?

hope so mate

There’s a bit of talk about re Sullivan to the Knights, that would be a great outcome for all parties.

He would be better off heading to England.

The knights would be terrible for any young half that’ isn’t a future Andrew Johns. They should have gone for a Chad Townsend or someone who doesn’t need to defend their ability

I mean I hate to kick the guy but when is Hastings going to get the memo that he isn’t a half (maybe aside from in the UK)?

Was thinking about the players might look at come Nov’ for 2026. The Sharks have a bit of work to do to keep 4 or 5 of their best players. I see Tieg Wilton is the nephew of John Morris & can talk to other clubs Nov’. Depending how things go with John Bateman he could be a player worth looking at. In terms of games and age would be just about entering his peak come 2026. Going to be very interesting to see what happens over the next month or so in regards to 2026 as quite a few clubs will be in for these type of players.

we have had 2 cracks at duncan one apparently was early this year looking at 2025 (obviously didn't happen) I think 2026 we might be in with a pretty good chance of getting him

I think a few clubs will have a crack at him this Nov’. In terms of props I think the Storm fellas might be worth looking at. Josh King my pick there. Davvy Moale at Souths too.

Leo Thompson should be No1 Priority, He has the aggression that we have lacked.
