No great loss imo. Not the aggressive forward leader we need. But not sure who is? 🤷♂️
Titans already have Tino and Moeki…… could be a smoke screen
We need multiple new forwards who put up good numbers in NRL, not state cup. If we’re not upgrading our forwards and relying on guys like TJ we’ll have a similar season to this year.If anyone is interested in Tim Johsnnssen’s stats this year it’s worth going to the Tigers website and having a look. I know it’s only State Cup but still impressive for a young guy who had pretty much given the game away in January.
This is a really strong post. There needs to be roster turnover for us to get off the bottom. Players like Twal and Seyfarth have been front and centre for 3 straight wooden spoons. They should be forced out first in my opinion.
We did very well to sign Johannsen on a non Top 30 contract. I think he could have secured Top 30 money elsewhere.
Here’s an interesting read:
The Eye Test’s advanced stat leaders for NRL season 2024
Key takeaways for me were:
- Further stats to support my enduring argument that Twal > Seyfarth. This year Twal ranked top 10 in Tackle rate, decoy runs, and involvement rate. I swear this isn’t his mothers burner account, but I genuinely believe he plays a critical and reliable role in the team.
- We know Faatape and Staines really struggled, here’s some stats to prove it
- We are quick to heap on our senior players for letting the team down this year, but I think Api has escaped the majority of criticism. Api is incredibly talented and impactful for us, but we can’t ignore that he let us down in a few games as well. Specifically he’s first in the NRL for missed tackles, top ten for penalties conceded, was sin binned three times and had double figures for try and line break causes. If this was the case with sezer or klemmer, we would be storming concord baying for blood.
- Royce hunt could be a savy buy, as demonstrated by the run metres over expected runs table.
- No surprises that junior tupou, Brent naden and AD represent the tigers in highest error count.
Yes, yes, stats aren’t everything and shouldn’t be looked at in isolation. But they certainly reinforce some of my beliefs on strengths and weaknesses in the team.
If faatape plays more than 6 games we are bottom 4 again. These types need to be in the NSW and only be seen when injuries strike.

I agree with your point about roster turnover but our depth in our pack is unbelievably shallow. Sure if we can replace Twal and Setareh with guns but we would have higher quality but still be an injury away from disaster. Then we have the issue of roster spots.
The position we have greatest depth of below average players to offload is outside backs. You could just about draw names out of a hat of who to get rid of and I wouldn’t mind

Api is the perfect example of why stats should be taken with a bucket of salt.

First picked, but needs to have a refocus on his place in the team and how he plays at this point in his career. Thankfully, next year some pressure/leadership can fall on others like Bird and Luai.

Broncos have to lose either Cobbo or Staggs because of Walsh’s new contract, I’d take either one but if I had to choose it would be Staggs

- Nice of you to assume that they are NOT cheating..

The context is that we had one of the most ill disciplined and sin binned teams in the comp, and our captain was one of the main culprits. He is the first picked in my team as well, but the stats suggest he needs to share the leadership next year and benji has better bench rotation.

Whichever one leaves will end up at the Roosters
