We will add another middle, we wanted Horsburgh enough to have him tour the Zurich Centre, so we’ll find another I’m sure of that. And I’m not saying Johannssen will be the guy we’re banking on to improve us. I’m not banking on Hunt either although he’ll hopefully make a difference for more than 20 minutes a game. I posted a few weeks ago I think Johannssen is a real Smokey when it comes to naming a 17 right now. I didn’t say he’d start or be on the bench but he’s someone who wouldn’t surprise to see him step up next year to grab a spot. It may not happen but I like his chances because he has attributes more suited to the modern day middle. He’s mobile, has good size, can break the line or, at least, test it with his leg speed & footwork, works hard in defence & plays good minutes. There are few big impact middles without these attributes these days. Even the best are very mobile.I agree but I’m tipping him to step up to be considered a regular NRL player. I see something in him which impresses me. I might be wrong, and most would disagree with my judgement, but I’m confident he’ll be playing plenty more NRL in 2025.I've seen enough Garry to think he has a bright future. What makes me think he can push for a spot is the fact he didn't have a preseason, had only 2 weeks prep to play Sydney Shield and progressed quickly through to Cup where he was probably the best player, certainly best forward. He's a young man who is now settled, has a fulltime contract and will be bigger and stronger next year. It's an amazing story and one I don't know has been matched anywhere, maybe it has. Of course it doesn't guarantee he will progress again next year but I'm tipping he will. As long as he can cope with the defensive duties of NRL he's made for the modern game.I reckon he’s going to pushing for a spot in the 17 Joel. He, Alex Seyfarth & Sam Fainu have plenty of size & mobility which is ideal for the modern game. I like the 3 of them. Not big dollars for Seyfarth or Johannssen too, maybe $500,000 for the two of them.@avocadoontoast The forwards are the issue no doubt still short of a heavy duty prop, signing a two hit up wonder is not going to help that much the offence should be pretty competitive .
I know he’s green but I wonder if they feel Johannson is going to be a key part of the pack?
I don't think he has shown enough yet to be banking on him.
He only had 2 weeks prep because he didn't have a contract earlier and was actually retired. He has shown good progression this year but is still a long way from being considered a regular NRL player, I don't even think you can call him a fringe NRL player at this point.
And you’re right he had decided to retire but I put that down to him just not really knowing what he wanted in terms of his future, it happens to young people a lot. But he’s obviously much more settled now & determined to succeed. To do what he did this season is still, in my mind anyway, special.
I think that is a little too much wishful thinking and after 3 spoons we need more than that, we need proven NRL performers and cannot afford to bank on a guy that was playing Sydney Shield at the start of 24.
If he progresses that his great but we need to plan on him being a cup player next season.
I thought he struggled in only a couple of games but as the season wore on he was very reliable. If the Tigers are to bring in another middle, which I think is highly likely, where do people see Alex Seyfarth's best position next year? Bench, starting, middle, 13, edge? If bench then what is the most likely bench? He's a pretty versatile player and I think he'd do a job wherever he's asked to play. I think he'd make a decent 13, he's pretty mobile, he works hard, like most 13s, and he can ball play a little although could be better and he defends well. But if he does play middle, bench or starting, who plays the other edge? Will the club be able to add both another middle and an edge? Or does Alex play that other edge?
I really don't like him starting, I think that is when you get most issues with him. For me I think he is part of the prop rotation, I am not keen on him at 13 as his initial contact in defence isn't strong enough and he struggles to hold the middle.
If anyone is interested in Tim Johsnnssen’s stats this year it’s worth going to the Tigers website and having a look. I know it’s only State Cup but still impressive for a young guy who had pretty much given the game away in January.

We are a fringe NRL team at this point. He'll fit in nicely.
Seriously I see him on the bench before Miller.
We need multiple new forwards who put up good numbers in NRL, not state cup. If we’re not upgrading our forwards and relying on guys like TJ we’ll have a similar season to this year.If anyone is interested in Tim Johsnnssen’s stats this year it’s worth going to the Tigers website and having a look. Wait, Tuki is coming back??

I really connected with Tim via his Podcast interview
He is genuine, honest and extremely humble.
He will fight for the tigers well above his talent.
At no point whatsoever have I stated we will be relying on Tim. I stated he’s a smokey as he hadn’t been mentioned in discussions around the middles. I think he’ll step up & play a role next year in our middle. We will also upgrade. Tim is probably on $200,000-250,000 which is barely above minimum and understandably very few on the forum believe he can step up. A few of us disagree with that view.We need multiple new forwards who put up good numbers in NRL, not state cup. I'm not saying he won't step up, I'm saying he still has a lot to prove and shouldn't be in the conversation for a first grade spot next year. Hopefully he can step up and push for a spot. at this stage he is a good NSW Cup player, which is something we definitely need.
I have no problem with you predicting him to step up, I just need to see more from him to be confident of that.
In memory of Geoff Chisholm (1965-2022)

No way in the world he is on anywhere near 200k. He is on train and trail and development money which is under minimum wage for a NRL player - he would be on 100k Max
Looks like RCG to the Titans.

Yeah he wants 3 years, apparently. I wouldn’t be giving him 3 years. 2 at most.Looks like RCG to the Titans.
