I sure hope not@avocadoontoast The forwards are the issue no doubt still short of a heavy duty prop, signing a two hit up wonder is not going to help that much the offence should be pretty competitive .
I know he’s green but I wonder if they feel Johannson is going to be a key part of the pack?

Reckon with a full off-season Johannson will be a bit bigger and stronger and that will help. He's certainly got that determination in him. But don't think his best will be immediate so it would be important to get a harder middle for a couple of years.
@barra He seems to have the determination so it’s up to him , whether he can fill that aggressive prop remains to be seen there certainly is an upside .

On the tiny bit we have seen of him in first grade, I dont think he will ever be that aggressive JWH or JFH type prop but he did look very mobile and seemed to have good footwork. I actually think this is the direction of the modern prop anyway. Fast, mobile and hitting spaces rather than bodies. Find your front, fast PTB. I think he has a future as this type of prop.

Totally agree with this 5150.
I reckon he’s going to pushing for a spot in the 17 Joel. He, Alex Seyfarth & Sam Fainu have plenty of size & mobility which is ideal for the modern game. I like the 3 of them. Not big dollars for Seyfarth or Johannssen too, maybe $500,000 for the two of them.@avocadoontoast The forwards are the issue no doubt still short of a heavy duty prop, signing a two hit up wonder is not going to help that much the offence should be pretty competitive .

I don't think he has shown enough yet to be banking on him.

If the Tigers are to bring in another middle, which I think is highly likely, where do people see Alex Seyfarth's best position next year? Bench, starting, middle, 13, edge? If bench then what is the most likely bench? He's a pretty versatile player and I think he'd do a job wherever he's asked to play. I think he'd make a decent 13, he's pretty mobile, he works hard, like most 13s, and he can ball play a little although could be better and he defends well. But if he does play middle, bench or starting, who plays the other edge? Will the club be able to add both another middle and an edge? Or does Alex play that other edge?
I've seen enough Garry to think he has a bright future. What makes me think he can push for a spot is the fact he didn't have a preseason, had only 2 weeks prep to play Sydney Shield and progressed quickly through to Cup where he was probably the best player, certainly best forward. He's a young man who is now settled, has a fulltime contract and will be bigger and stronger next year. It's an amazing story and one I don't know has been matched anywhere, maybe it has. Of course it doesn't guarantee he will progress again next year but I'm tipping he will. As long as he can cope with the defensive duties of NRL he's made for the modern game.I reckon he’s going to pushing for a spot in the 17 Joel. I really don't like him starting, I think that is when you get most issues with him. For me I think he is part of the prop rotation, I am not keen on him at 13 as his initial contact in defence isn't strong enough and he struggles to hold the middle.

He only had 2 weeks prep because he didn't have a contract earlier and was actually retired. He has shown good progression this year but is still a long way from being considered a regular NRL player, I don't even think you can call him a fringe NRL player at this point.

I agree but I’m tipping him to step up to be considered a regular NRL player. I see something in him which impresses me. I might be wrong, and most would disagree with my judgement, but I’m confident he’ll be playing plenty more NRL in 2025.I've seen enough Garry to think he has a bright future. And you’re right he had decided to retire but I put that down to him just not really knowing what he wanted in terms of his future, it happens to young people a lot. But he’s obviously much more settled now & determined to succeed. To do what he did this season is still, in my mind anyway, special.

I think that is a little too much wishful thinking and after 3 spoons we need more than that, we need proven NRL performers and cannot afford to bank on a guy that was playing Sydney Shield at the start of 24.
If he progresses that his great but we need to plan on him being a cup player next season.

Galvin wasn't on anyone's radar as a regular nrl player this time last year either...... just saying. 🤔

So you want to gamble on that happening again? My point is we need to get players into positions where we are not hoping for a big upturn in form from Sydney Shield player to regular NRL starter.
