I’d like to know who you guys think will benefit from the coach change?

For example, which existing Wests Tigers player (there are a few left πŸ˜†) do you expect to reach another level under Sheens?

By the sound of it, Talau and Blore are primed to go - both have got a potential high ceiling imo.

But I actually reckon it could be Daine Laurie that might benefit the most from having the master coach pulling the strings.

And, I’m not sure how much Sheens has to do with this, but Twal will get his try in 2023!

It’s a good question. I’m going to go with Stefano. I think the additions Sheens has made to the forwards will help his game. It won’t be a huge improvement but he’ll make a bigger impact than he has up to this point in time. I don’t really see huge improvements in any player but across the board we’ll probably see guys playing better than the last few seasons. The longer they can remain fit and well, play plenty of games the better they’ll get.

I’m think a guy like kepaoa who has all the physical attributes to be a powerful centre but lacks the basic things like handling will benefit from the skills focus. Tuki Simpkins is the exact opposite, extremely skilful but a coach like Maguire didn’t know how to use him in the game so he becomes a bash and barge player. Sheens will help him play to his strengths. And I think brooks will benefit immensely from being coached to play what’s infront of him rather than being coached into being a robot.

I think it’s a win for most but I think it will be particularly good for the young guys. Sheens has always had a great record of bringing through youth.Β

the backs will also benefit from a coach who understands how to play attacking football.

I cant believe I’m saying this, but Brooks might benefit the most.

Actually, echoing off TigerTownSFS I think Kepaoa, but actually Naden more so - he’s got the potential to be a top line centre, Sheens has a good track record of helping average players reach a new level and I think he could be one.

@tigertownsfs agree 100%. Tuki gets my vote. I’m hoping Laurie and/or Staines take it to another level as well.

I think one of the glaring shortcomings in Madges coaching tenure is that IMO not a single player developed and got better under his coaching, despite the fact that there were many young guys there with an obvious spark of ability/talent. Im hoping that Shhen can spark this development in these guys.

Β

Doubling up on a lot of other suggestions, IMO the players with untapped potential that hopefully can be brought out by Sheens include:

Tuki,

Kepeoa

Tupou

Toa,

Talau,

and yes...............Brooks

If Tuki Simpkins can contribute he will also be like a new signing.

I have said this before I believe every player will benefit . Under the whole new coaching structure plus the fact Maguire is no longer in chargeΒ

Brooks will finish with highest Dally m points for Tigers and go pretty close to winning Dally M in 23

Behind a good pack of forwards and options in second row plus having a minder in the second row in Paps and or Bateman doing some tackles like most of the other good halves have, he shoukd have plenty of spring in his step.Β
