what was people's thoughts on Joffa ?

I think he should be starting, like he was last year. Stefano hasn’t excited me, so the bench for mine.

He doesn't look fit to me. I know he's had injury issues recently, it's really showing with his lack of sharpness.

Think he’s just so sick of losing out there. He had a winning culture at the bronx. He’s fallen into our culture sadly.

Joe was captain of the Broncos when they won the spoon in his last year at the Broncos. He might have brought it with him.

Don't worry everyone Sheens has booked the cabins for Kiama then on to Melbourne for Friday night, I am sure he will sort it out

Disappointing. Took his eyes off the play and that’s where Burton, I think it was, ran straight passed him to score. Lack of concentration.

He didnt warrant a contract extension in my opinion. Too often he is pushed back in hit ups and is often found out in defence close to the ruck.

What's bizarre also is that when Benji and Sheens were made a coach Im sure Joffa was quoted as saying 'the first thing they did was pull me aside and tell me 'youre not a lock youre a prop." Despite this, he's been playing lock to start the year.

I'd be very keen for Matamua to split time at 13 with Bateman in future weeks. Joffa can provide leadership in NSW Cup and find some fitness / form.

Needs to be some scapegoats after a woeful start to the year!

Out of all our forwards I think he & Stefano have been pretty underwhelming so far this year. But they’ve proven to be so much better so hopefully they put the work in & get back to their best.

Start with Sheens and Marshall as scapegoats. Things can only improve from there.

Just read this somewhere else and found it amusing:

“Following an AFL team is like life, a long hard slog punctuated by brief moments of happiness.”

Obviously you can say the same about following NRL teams, Wests Tigers fans just have less of those brief moments of happiness.

I am pretty optimistic that there are players in a lot of our positions that are long term options. Really there are a limited number of positions where it is obvious that we don’t have a player who is going to be in that position long term.

I would say the positions that are vacant are:

1)

2)

3)

6)

7)

13)

Of our current top 30 players I would say Matamua at 13 and maybe douhie (at centre perhaps) could fill a role here. The good news is that we have a lot of money to spend. I would start with 7 and 1 to recruit and that’s easier said then done but at least we know now that our current players aren’t good enough to fill these roles.

Blore, kepaoa, tupou. Also think Stephano was better today off the bench.

this team will find a way to make the bye week painful. Boozy night out ending in an injury or similar

The last wooden spoon team to go 0-5 the next season was in 1969…Balmain Tigers…eventual premiers. (I saw this on reddit and was too lazy to validate its accuracy but if it’s true, we are right where we want to be!)

Not going to have to worry about my god damn awful rugby league team playing in september.

Stress free finals coming up for another year. This team is so thoughtful.

Haha indeed. Balmain came 5th in '68, and were 5-0 in 1969.

Read about it all in the excellent book by Ian Heads, "The Great Grand Final Heist".
