We tend to think that it’s all about one coach, and at the end of the day they’re the ones who take on the most responsibility. But a lot depends on those around the coach, the assistants mainly although a good, experienced leadership group within the team helps. I have no idea who were Aaron Payne’s assistants this year & no idea next year, I hope they can all work together and do a good job. The Cup squad should be better, some depth across the top 30 helps & younger players should improve especially if playing with players of higher quality.

It is a sound bite to buy time and paper over what has happened, using Benji’s legendary status as the face of the club and going back to trying to put to bed the HBg insanity by saying there is nothing to see here. The lack of movement from the NRL this week has me extremely worried.
