Fox reporting last year we had the option to get Holbrook as assistant, but Benji knocked him back to stick with Farah. Pretty infuriating

it wouldn’t have mattered in my book.

He would have been a far better option that Farah imo. He seems to be doing well at the Roosters.

Do ya hear yourself there Avo… at the ‘roosters’ We’ve had good D coaches previously and weren’t able to do anything.
Good example being Furner and he’s going okay and better at the rabbits now.

Why is he good enough for Robinson but not good enough for a guy who cannot coach to save his life?

I’m sure it wouldn’t have been so simple with Holbrook just to accept our offer. If the option was on the table you’d take the roosters one 99/100. He knows we’re a Basketcase.

Farah was always a short term appointment, so I don't think this is a deviation from the plan as such.

For what it’s worth I very much understand the frustration of fans regarding some of the issues raised about Benji. And I agree with those who believe he’d benefit from an experienced assistant besides John Morris. But I also understand this is a bit of a learning process for Benji and he will get better. I still think he will become a very good coach these next few years but, as with any coach of a team coming from such a low base, there will be bumps & bruises along the way especially given he’s working with another very inexperienced assistant coach in Robbie. I think in 2 or 3 years the club and he will be very successful if the right support is given & hopefully Richo can make that happen pretty soon.

@russtutty63 Sure, but which other NRL club appoints a head coach who is not ready for that position? Surely membership numbers and sponsorship options are diminished until Marshall works out what it is to be a viable and highly regarded head coach?

Weren't the tigers left with no other option? Everyone else knocked them back so they had to come up with this ridiculous plan. We are too deep in to back out now and this year was always going to be brutal.

We agree on one thing; Marshall as head coach has turned out to be ridiculous. Persisting with it is negligence.

madge is great at taking elite teams to the next level emotionally to win it all. I don’t think he is a great day to day coach when he doesn’t have the elite players. He did a great job with the Blues. Hopefully he stays in that role for a few years. I think it would be a mistake for him to go to clubland unless it was to a top 8 team

Maybe we are not a great day to day team/club?

100%. Madge has one style which is bash bash bash. He couldn't adapt his coaching to the Tigers, and he was on a massive downward trajectory at Souths before getting fired. Coaching in origin is totally different to coaching week to week. Bellamy failed at origin but day to day he's one of the all time greats.

@tigertownsfs  that is exactly what Michael Carrionis said on SEN this morning, if a team thats close to a premiership he is perfect but building a team like he tried at Tigers he is no good

Agreed. NSW were incredible last night and they looked exactly like a Madge coached team. They bashed QLD on both sides of the ball and exactly like a Madge coached team, they were camped in their 20m and couldnt score for most of the game. They couldnt get the ball past either second row mostly.

Loved the game, loved the way NSW played and was very happy for Madge, I like the bloke.
