what do you find horrible exactlyThose comments from Marshall are horrible.
"The Xs and Os to me, they don’t matter"
“I’m just not really a typical head coach, I don’t reckon,” Marshall said. “I’m away from it. I’m not 24-7 coaching."

in the modern age where these players turn up as elite athletes already the psychological part of the game is huge. Look at what Ange has done at Spurs
Well he’s never been a head coach but does that mean he can’t coach. I like what he is saying players needing to earn they’re spot in team , age doesn’t matter, team comes first wants players who want to be there. Marshall is winner he knows what it takes he’s young and seems to have the ear and respect of the playing group.l support him 100%

I think Benji is either going to be revelation and change the game as a coach or he is going to be a complete disaster. I don't think it will be anything in between those polar opposites, similar to how he played I guess.

we have elite athletes? Do other teams have more elite athletes?
In what way“In our [coaching] team Robbie [Farah] looks after the attack, John [Morris] looks after the defence, Chris [Heighington] will do the forwards and our effort areas and I’ll oversee the overarching theme of the way we want to play.
“Other than that, I let them do their jobs and have their say. They’re very experienced and very good at what they do. You don’t wanna overdo it but again, I also don’t want to come in and become a head coach and do it someone else’s way.
“I wanna do it the way I wanna do it. The way I see it working is the way I’m gonna do things.”
terrifying
in the way that our club has been declining for 10 years, has won consecutive wooden spoons, hasn’t strengthened the roster significantly, lost money last year, has a totally dis functional board that just sacked the coach a year early and thrown ALL its eggs in the basket of a totally unqualified, inexperienced coach who is in turn putting our rubbish roster who has proven they can’t play totally in the hands of two assistant coaches who also have no experience and proudly explain that they aren’t a head coach. THAT kind of terrifying.

I expect a repeat of last year TBH.

Agree with this. It’s going to be all or nothing. If the players buy into the laid back approach but remain professional it could be a master stroke. Difficulty will be keeping players engaged enough
so the experienced assistant coaches in the past helped us to get to the finals. And where did Marshall say that he wasn’t a head coach. He did say I think I’m a different kind of coach. But I do agree with you about the board. I do trust in Marshall even if many others don’tIn what way“In our [coaching] team Robbie [Farah] looks after the attack, John [Morris] looks after the defence, Chris [Heighington] will do the forwards and our effort areas and I’ll oversee the overarching theme of the way we want to play.

Im pretty sure Ange lives the job and I’m absolutely certain the x’s and o’s matter to him. Being a man manager and a technical coach shouldn’t be mutually exclusive.

from what I have read Ange gives massive rope to his assistants and he is focused on culture
@tigertownsfs maybe so, but he’s been doing what he’s doing for almost 30 years. Marshall has zero experience. Zero.

I’m drinking the cool aid. I think Benji will be a great coach.
