I hope its true, but its been drama galore on and off the field since the 7 hours meeting/facility tour. Its so WTs - why would he come?

Put yourself in Ciraldo's shoes ...exactly right ...why would you risk everything to come here ......it would be a ballsy call ...I wouldn't do it and I'm a fan

He’ll at least have some cash to splash given the exodus of forwards,Lucy,Kelma,Garner,Mikaele,and a couple off contract.So from the get go he has true input into what he envisions for the make up of the team.That’s not a bad carrot for a “development”coach I believe.

How many times do fans have to hear about our "war chest " for the next season and how we will have superstars in every position lining up hooting and hollering to join the WT's

One more time?

The trick is the coach. IMO a "war chest" would be useful if we sign a coach who has the trust and respect of the wider NRL (Ciraldo) and then it may mean something. If we get a coach that players are not confident with, particularly in our poor state, the war chest could actuall be a problem because the new coach is basically forced to spend it on whatever he can get.....REynolds, Packer, Mbye, Tui etc

That's an interesting point 5150. Cleary was a sacked coach when we brought him back but still had a decent reputation. He was given free reign (that was probably his condition for agreeing to join) and he spent big money on players who didn't work out. Then we signed another sacked coach who had a better reputation but he struggled to attract (and in some cases even retain) enough talent to make a difference. I think it comes down to player managers - I know they are bottom feeders but wouldn't put a player into a club they don't have confidence in, unless it is a big end of career payday or if they can leverage WT offer to get a better deal elsewhere. While our Board and Management have achieved some worthwhile things recently (financial footprint, COE, pathways re-energised) they are also part of the problem why we stink as a destination for quality players.

Are you joining Eddie in the wearing of a dress if we sign him?

@earl Understandable your joking right

My opinion is that Cleary should talk our club up a lot. We gave him a massive opportunity and gave him a tonne of support. He screwed us over and acted with no integrity.

I think he should be stating how good we were to him and what a good spot it is to work.

If he isn't stating that he is a complete and utter knobhead. We already know he is a knobhead but if he isn't telling CC to take the job as it's a great opportunity he is like the all time biggest knob in the world.

Does any good manager try and hold back their staff if a good opportunity comes along ?

You’d think there would be more $ here, so that means a bigger chunk for the manager.

I honestly don't know why you wouldn't jump at our offer. The only reason is if there is a better opportunity elsewhere. Are the Dogs are better option than us now ? Maybe but I'm not convinced.

If it’s true that he wants a 5yr contract then that is fine by me as long as there are some basic performance objectives like make the 8 by year 3.

thinking it will be Ciraldo and Barrett ad an assistant. Downside will be Hastings will go elsewhere and we are stuck with Douhie and Brooks in halves

Agreed. That is the price we have to pay due to our history. Bite down hard and give it to him of thats all it takes.
