Per DT. Chairman Lee has confirmed our interest which means he's zero chance of coming here. The kiss of death.
Wests Tigers chairman Lee Hagipantelis confirmed the club held its first “formal meeting” with potential coach Cameron Ciraldo on Monday.
Ciraldo was taken through the soon to be opened centre of excellence at Concord which will be completed by the time the new coach steps into the role.
Tigers powerbrokers including Hagipantelis, head of football Tim Sheens and chief executive Justin Pascoe met with Ciraldo as the club plans to put together a deal as long as five years to have Ciraldo join them.
Hagipantelis did not want to buy into the meeting but confirmed it took place.
“I’m not comfortable denying what’s true,” he said on SEN.
“I will say no comment. The interview and recruitment process should be confidential.
“Cameron’s name had been thrown up. I’ve received two resumes. I don’t want it being played out (publicly) – I’m not comfortable denying what I know to be true.”
Ciraldo is the club’s no. 1 target after parting ways with Michael Maguire last week. Canterbury are also interested in the Panthers assistant coach.
The big pitch the Tigers are making to Ciraldo included their new state of the art facility and their promising juniors who the club believe Ciraldo can turn into future first graders.
Ciraldo took control of the Panthers in Ivan Cleary’s absence during their 42-6 win against Newcastle on Sunday.
He was “flattered” by the interest in him.
“I’m happy doing what I’m doing. I’ve got some pretty special relationships at this place,” Ciraldo said after the game.
“I’ve got to look at what’s in my career and what’s down the track too. At the moment, I’m just focused on Penrith.”

What is wrong with this guy.
He states, quite correctly, that he will make no comment as the recruitment process should be confidential then goes on to basically confirm that Ciraldo is one of the candidates.
All he has to say is no comment, end of story but he just can't help himself.
If Ciraldo turns us down after the Tigers very publicly chasing him then it will be yet another shambolic mess and in my view should be a resignation issue for the chairman or the CEO or both.

I wouldn’t want him working for me in a negotiation - he frequently leaves himself no wiggle room at all.
This looks like…
”yes, we met with Cameron, we’re also talking to others. When we make a decision you will know.” It’s 101.

He's so in love with himself he has to be the centre of attention. The black Ferrari at Madge's dismissal wasn't by accident..

Was he really there in his Ferrari?

@avocadoontoast to be fair to Lee, the information is already out there so no point denying it
@helmesy sure was. They showed it on the news. Couldn't find a photo online but they mentioned it in the herald:
"When chairman Lee Hagipantelis arrived at Concord in his black Ferrari, it was clear that this wasn’t going to be just another day. Hagipantelis strode into the club’s demountable offices for a meeting with club chief executive Justin Pascoe and director of football Tim Sheens."

There is no upside to saying anything. Don't need to confirm anything.
Penrith hooker Api Koroisau has encouraged Cameron Ciraldo to join him at Wests Tigers, declaring he'd love it if Panthers assistant coach made the switch to Concord.
Koroisau is currently in his last season with the Panthers, having agreed to a two-year contract with the Tigers which starts in 2023.
The coach who recruited him to the club, Michael Maguire, was sacked last week with Ciraldo the early frontrunner to take over the role.

For some reason i laughed at that. Got out of a ferrari and went to a meeting in the demountable offices. I find that so funny to picture.

To be fair, he was asked directly about it on his weekly segment on the radio. He would make more of a scene denying it. I actually think he handled it reasonably well. He said we are looking at more than one and going through the process. I think people instinctively react to him.

I don't think people react instinctively to him. I just think he's a goose that always puts his foot in it.
The Walker brothers may also be under consideration. I caught a snippet on radio today where I think it was Ben who mentioned that they have spoken to some clubs albeit it was early conversations.

I have no idea of their coaching credentials but hear they are unconventional. A different approach may work with our team in a weird way, standard coaching methods do not seem to resonate.
