@lestronge I agree we’d get a new sponsor with ease.

Interesting point as part of the new NRL licence agreements clubs are going to to have to have 33% female representation at board level and 25% in management.

You need to update your candidates list @frullens

Man I am really not a fan of that. I am a fan of having more than 33% female representation but not a fan of it being mandated. I believe in meritocracy.

So far we've only got Ash Barty and Julie Goodwin as female potential candidates - both because they are fans.

I think Ash Barty would be a huge get on the board

There are many thousands of successful women in business who would be great.  I'm not sure which ones are WT supporters, but even if they aren't, I still be looking at getting the best and highest skilled people possible.

I wouldn't mind if we approach Yvonne Sampson.

Ash Barty is really a Richmond Tigers fan in AFL

I would hate to see Ash Barty, Julie Goodwin or Yvonne Sampson on the board.

Our board has correctly been criticised for being run by a real estate agent, a painter and a failed musician and you want to replace them with a tennis player, a cook and a reporter?

We need professional, competent people with experience and proven performance on the board. It is a place that the decisions are made that decide the future of our club and should be made by solid experienced professionals no matter what sex, gender they are.

"....proven performance" in what? Leading a so-called professional sporting club to being an embarrassment and to the point of oblivion? We need more of that??

I think all of those women mentioned are "professional and competent". IMO they'd be a asset to the club. Is it just that they're not men than irks you? So, if not, name a few women who you think could do a better job.

Mate, re-read my post. I want the proven poor performance on our board replaced with people who have experience and proven performance in successful organisations. I dont care if they are men, women or other as long as they proven professionals with a track record of excellence in the specific experience that we need.

professional and competent at being tennis players, cooks and television reporters. No experience at business, organisational structures or football managment.

Across the 9 seats on the board, ideally you would target a mix of skills and experience to have a well rounded board, that cover off on key target areas.

Of course skills in sports & footy administration is one and of course business is another priority.

If we can get people fo the calibre of John Coats and Barry OFarrel that would be a great start.

But someone like Ash Barty bring considerable skill to the board which would be an asset. She has been world no 1 in tennis and professional cricketer. She know what it takes to be professional sports person - something which would be a great asset to the board.

Also, she is worth between 30-40 million bucks - as a tennis player, they essentially run a small club, employing coach, physios, mind coach, etc.

Ash would be a million times better than who we have now.

Yvonne Sampson, is more than a reporter, she has been the face of both 9 and now fox. She would bring to our club, considerable experience in the media and help us in better managing the media - particularly at fox.

Top 8 2023

Before anyone talks about future appointments I think the focus should be on removing the current board.

If Hagipantelis and Pascoe become the scapegoats but Andreacchio, Wayde and Burgess remain then that would be a sad outcome IMO.

I don’t think Barty or Sampson are in any way qualified to sit on a board. And this has nothing to do with sex, I don’t think Rafa Nadal or James Hooper are either.

To sit on a board you have to have a strong understanding of corporate governance in order to execute your responsibilities effectively. These are important roles, they’re not honorary appointments or ambassadorships.

"It is with great pleasure that I formally announce the continuation of our partnership with South Sydney for the fifth consecutive year,” said Lee Hagipantelis, Principal of Brydens Lawyers.

South Sydney Rabbitohs – Article

In addition to Souths they also support Newcastle and St. George. How can we allow the Principal of Brydens Lawyers to remain Chair of Wests Tigers when they have interests in our opposition.

The sponsorship of the other teams doesn't overly concern but why is he the one showing up to other clubs for the announcement. As Chair of our club he should be sending someone else to the announcements for sponsorship

If he was just a sponsor I wouldn’t have an issue either but he is the Chairperson of our club and to me that’s a Major issue. You can’t be a Chairperson and support other clubs, period.

He isn't supporting them, his business is and I don't have a problem with it until you see him at and quoted in the announcements for other teams.

As the Principal he is supporting them. This type of sponsorship would not get by without his tacit approval. This cannot go on. Of course he would be announcing sponsorship and supporting other teams, he’s the Principal… That’s his job. He cannot be Chairperson of the Wests Tigers as well. He needs to step down.

It’s a conflict of interested - yes however so long as he keeps his distance it’s okay. Direct quotes and photos with other clubs is more of the issue. If we limit the chair to being unable to have business dealings with other clubs we narrow the candidates.
