Is anyone suggesting things would be different now if Richardson was still at WT? I find that very hard to believe.
He was brought back from the wilderness to do the WT job and has stayed in the wilderness since he resigned.
That's where he belongs; in the wilderness. He's a relic of the past.
And, as a relic, that understanding would also be a relic. WT don't need a "should" leader, they need a "can" leader. Richardson is like Sheens; way past their use-by date. The club is better off with both of them gone. He’s a relic for sure, but one who understands how a footy club should operate
Having said that, the newly-appointed CEO is hardly inspiring much confidence in me. I'd dare say that I have as much confidence in him as CEO as PNG has in making Luai their marquee signing.

He had us going in the right direction, but the owners shot him before the job was finished.
Would things be different if Richo was still here? Well if you tracked the trajectory of the club before and after, it would show a pretty clear story, especially considering this year has turned into another sh*tshow!
And remember the reason he walked was because HBG sacked the independent board so if he was still here it would mean the board would still be in place. At the time there was talk about Luai removing his contract clauses and Samuela Finau extending. Neither of which happened after the board and stability both left the building!
Also, he'd still be ruling with an iron fist, and I imagine the AD situation also likely plays out a lot differently.
Call him a dinosaur or whatever you want but look at how things are now with a young and inexperienced crew running the club! There is no mature experience to call the shots except for the cronies at HBG and the only thing they're good at is drip-feeding Wests Tigers into a state of malnutrition, and cheering on the Magpies behind their walls of privacy.

Interesting with the news of the old Balmain site and the club that is proposed, HBG seem to be unable at this stage to confirm whether this will eventuate as the developer wants confirmation if the group want to buy or lease the space . Maybe the group have to many fingers in the pie .. financing 2 franchises in soccer and the Weststigers and talk they want to develop the car park at Ashfield . Maybe selling the Weststigers franchise might become more appealing! After the Storm sell off there seems to be an appetite for big money to invest into franchises like this with the NRL covering most of the running costs these days and becoming more international .

I can’t see them selling the franchise any time soon, unfortunately.

Neither can I @joel. They'll just keep on drip-feeding the NRL side and hold it as a status symbol.

The funny thing is, Wests are primarily identified with being the battlers who are bullied by the rich and powerful. That’s exactly what HBG is doing.
