Sorry guys can someone please confirm
HB/Wests Ashfield club is not ‘owned’ by the Holman Barnes debenture holders
HB debenture holders/board ‘manages’ HB/Wests Ashfield club on behalf of members
HB board is not wholly elected by its members to manage the club (other than 2 minority member elects -if they don’t get punted)
HB debenture holders/board is a select group who pay a nominal amount to be a debenture holder and control who can join them as a debenture holder or board member (other than 2 minority member elects)
if all the above is generally correct there is no ‘real’ government governance/oversight
I just can’t understand the lack of L&G or ASIC or NRL intervention, purely on the basis of fair and transparent governance of member assets.
this is 100% correct. The debenture holders stack every level of governance to ensure they can never be outvoted. The majority independent WT board that just got sacked was the first time ever they were able to be outvoted and so they sacked that board and now are installing a board that has a majority WA members so that the independents plus Balmain vote can never get a majority. This is why WT Unite has to keep moving forward to ensure true independence from the demented debenture holders
The Wests Tigers Board met on Monday, 15 December as part of its annual schedule of meetings.
The Club can confirm that independent Director, Barry O’Farrell has been reappointed and assumed the role of Chair, while Dennis Burgess has stepped down from his role as a Director.
The Wests Tigers would like thank Mr Burgess for his contribution to the Club throughout his tenure on the Board.
The Club will continue to work on elements of its governance structure in early-2026, prior to the commencement of the NRL and NRLW seasons.
The Wests Tigers Board will next meet in February and will not be making any further commentary on the matter until that time.

Receiving thanks for being a wrecker - that’ll do me.
So only Barry comes back. We are in deep doo doo
@lestronge The Western Suburbs Magpies were only at Campbelltown for 12 years. Since 2000 it has been the Wests Tigers there at Campbelltown. In fact our first game was at Campbelltown I believe. 26 years the Wests Tigers have been at Campbelltown.
I don’t think they want a Magpies NRL team playing out of Lidcombe so I don’t quite get your point. Wests Ashfield just want the Western Suburbs Magpies back in the NRL. That is never going to happen.
@mike my point is they do want the Ashfield version of magpies back . Not the Campbelltown version . Hence all the hate between the 2 wests leagues clubs . I’m saying the same thing as you . I’m pointing out how even more backwards these guys are than what most people believe.
Not quite. I don’t believe the Wests Campbelltown Club ever own any portion of the Western Suburbs Magpies they were a completely seperate identity. It was always Wests Ashfield. The Wests Campbelltown Club only ever had a seat on the Board of the Wests Tigers.@mike my point is they do want the Ashfield version of magpies back . Not the Campbelltown version . Happy to be change my view if others have better information than I do.
My memory is that Wests Group (Campbelltown) had a 10% share in the original JV. They had fallen out with wests Ashfield in the mid 90s because whilst they had originally been setup by WA, they had achieved independence and that caused bad blood between the inner and outer west versions of the magpies. The WSDRL is owned by WA and plays out of Lidcome is the last version of the inner west magpies before they out west. I seem to remember that the jets were meant to move to Campbeltown in the early 80s but ran out of money and wests took their spot

Yes, this goes back to the same issue - control. Ashfield weren’t willing to give up control despite the Magpies (mostly) moving out to Campbelltown. So there became a Campbelltown faction and an Ashfield faction and they were at war when we merged. Hence why Campbelltown often backed Balmain over their Wests “brothers”.
Anyway, onwards and upwards for the all encompassing Wests Tigers!

This is an extract from a SMH online article this morning where Racing NSW (Vlandys' mob) have appointed an administrator to run the Australian Turf Club.
" It (the letter explaining the appointment of an administrator) said the club directors’ dismissal was “the culmination of months of escalating concern regarding the ATC’s financial viability [and] governance issues” and a breakdown in trust with Racing NSW.
The letter detailed reasons for the appointment of an administrator and said Racing NSW determined that the ATC board had “ceased to be effective as a governing body”.

In addition, Racing NSW has formed the clear and considered view that the conduct of the ATC board gives rise to serious and systemic corporate governance concerns,” the regulator said.Ok, it's not about NRL, but the scenario and concerns are not too dissimilar to HBG and their governance of WT, particularly from fan/member perspectives.I hope PVL has put HBG on notice and, as this article shows, will act if needed.
Maybe there are a few more chapters to come.
