this movement has my full support. We are wests tigers.
@garry I don’t think Liquor & Gaming have any basis to investigate. HBG are incompetent but they have not acted with impropriety. The Eels were investigated once in 2014 by the LGA because of an allegation that the chairman fudged a vote count to preserve his position. In 2016, the club made illegal payments to players and this triggered another LGA investigation.
The outdated debenture system that is in place at the HBG definitely falls under the scope of Liquor and Gaming and issues have already been raised with them.

- Surely HBG would be deemed to bringing the game into disreputte, virtually every day it oversees wests tigers football club, and this warrant NRL review/administration

The NRL has just granted them a 10 year licence.

- @garry players have contracts/clubs have licenses, doesn’t exempt either of them from bringing the game into disrepute and to be accountable. Hopefully the NRL has some ‘control’ of the game participants.

I agree but these agreements were signed in the last 2 months when these issues would have been known.

The petition is now live and we need your help!
We are launching this action because WE DO NOT have faith in the current governance of the majority shareholder of the Wests Tigers, the Holman Barnes Group (HBG).
This action commenced after the HBG board continued to drag its feet over introducing and adopting the full recommendations from the 2023 external review into the governance of the Wests Tigers.
We fought so hard for that review and it only came about because everyone supported the petition. That petition created some real change at OUR club. But the job is not done yet.
This time, we intend to make our action much bigger and louder, with a large number of individual supporter groups, social media, and media outlets all working together to support this action under the banner of ‘Wests Tigers Unite’.
In a time where the trajectory of our club is heading in the right direction (at Wests Tigers level), the HBG board continues to cause repeated embarrassment. Any personal issues need to be put aside and collectively, as a fan base, this is us coming together for a result we all want & need.
We again ask that you take an interest in this important matter as it is the final hurdle in giving the Wests Tigers the ownership and governance that will help the club we all love thrive.
This petition is calling for a comprehensive external review of the governance of the Holman Barnes Group and will be presented to the HBG, Liquor and Gaming NSW, and the NSW Minister for Liquor and Gaming, The Hon. David Harris, MP.

Given the HBG power structure surely the only position for resolution would be for the NRL to appoint an administrator of the wests tigers football club (ala parramatta previously) to review and create a new board structure to administer wests tigers football, given the NRL finances the football club to the tune of about 12-15 million each year
It was the Liquor and Gaming board that investigated Parramatta and put in place the changes there, we will be engaging them as well.
Big difference with Parra was it was the same board for football and leagues club. Liquor and Gaming got involved because the football club practices (salary cap cheating) imapcted leagues club operations.

I have been a long time supporter of Wests Tigers. Its time to remove self interests and ensure some proper governance on the HBG board. Julie, Dennis and their supporters are no longer acting on behalf of their members and are protected by an outdated and undemocratic debenture system. This needs to change to ensure that the power lies in a member driven, democratic process. Mark
If the Wests Tigers RLFC club are ever to fulfill their potential as a sporting organisation , then the governance and meddling needs to cease once and for all . It is ridiculous that someone can pay 100 dollars to be a debenture for a pokies den board , to leverage that into being on an elite sports organisations board . Josh
I want to see Wests Tigers be successful again before I die and this needs competent governance at board level. The HBG seem more interested in looking after their own personal interests than the on-field success of Wests Tigers in the NRL. Andrew
Im sick of the Wests vs Balmain rubbish its been 25 yrs get a grip. I fully support the end of the dinosaurs given stewardship of this club. Ben
