Looks like Sheens has slipped seamlessly into the Tigers specialty of excuse making.
Yes it's only round 2 but yesterdays game was a continuation of what we saw at the end of last season, if anything last weeks Melbourne game was the exception.

That was the most disappointing thing for me. I thought Sheens would have the guts to make the tough changes, but I was wrong.
Put the ‘sack the coach’ sentiments away. It’s boring and does nothing to move us forward.

Well Madge certainly isn't moving us forward, watch his press conference. He doesn't know how to fix it.

I remember us having the same discussion a year ago Mike, and we've gone backwards even further since then. The longer he stays, the worse it will get and the harder it will be for the club to recover. It's only due to complete incompetence from the club that he's still coaching now - any club with half a brain would have kicked him out years ago. I want to see the club start winning again and that will never ever happen with Madge as coach. He's completely clueless.
I think most of us believed 2022 was not going to be our year and that 2023 was more likely to bear fruit. Maybe we've bought into the puff pieces too much and started to believe in miracles.

I just want to see improvement and commitment, yesterday was too much of a carbon copy from last years performances.

I wasn't expecting us to do anything better than bottom 4 this year. But we need to do all we can to make the most of our new signings for next year. We need a decent coach who the players will actually play for. If we keep Madge it will be yet another year ruined.

Absolutely. We have lost our last 5 games (Sharks, Panthers, Dogs, Storm, Knights) with a F/A of -114. Enough is enough.

NRL 2022: Tim Sheens makes call on Michael Maguire’s Wests Tigers future
In the wake of his side’s embarrassing loss to Newcastle, Wests Tigers boss Tim Sheens has addressed the futures of the club’s most under siege names.

Wests Tigers boss Tim Sheens has backed his under siege coach Michael Maguire to keep his job despite a poor start to the season.
In the aftermath of Sunday’s humiliating 26-4 loss to an understrength Newcastle, Sheens has returned serve on the critics calling for Maguire to be sacked.
“It’s a bit early to be jumping the gun – it’s round two for goodness sake, not round 22,” Sheens said.
“I’ve been around too long for knee-jerk reactions. I won’t be sucked into it.
“I’m standing by Madge and the team. People wanted to sack Des Hasler after four weeks last year and then look what happened at Manly.
“Our job is to put our heads down, stick together, and be solid to each other.”
The former premiership-winning coach at the Raiders and Wests Tigers admits Sunday’s performance in Newcastle was not good enough but refuses to blame individuals.
“Yes they had a bad day yesterday and the whole world has jumped on them,” he said.
“I’ve been around too long for all this speculation and I won’t be sucked into it.
“In 2005 we were running 11th and there were issues about whether I should be there.

“Please quote me – I stand by Madge and the players. Fracturing the place is not the answer.
“We’ve got to work hard, simple as that.”
On Luke Brooks and another below par performance from his $900,000 playmaker, Sheens said:
“He played behind a losing pack. The other halfback played behind a winning pack.
“I thought his defence was good. They hammered him on the left edge.
“I’m not getting involved in any of that stuff about Brooksy wanting to leave.
“He’s staying at the club, that’s it.”

Regarding Sheens comments, that's all well and good but we've been here the last three seasons, you haven't.

Well that is not Sheens' fault lol, we did sack him.

Well at the very least we have to see some changes to this team then. There will be forced ones but ‘come on Madge’ show us what you got !
It’s not ideal to sack a coach early in the season but what options do we have. What options are there in the coaching market?
Do we go with Gardiner as interim coach?
Gardiner now is in the Maguire circle of failure unfortunately.. I was disappointed that he took the assistant coaches job on as I thought he had a future .as it stands now he is associated with the train wreck and will be tarnished , no second chances in that game !
