Never been a supporter of Madge nor am I a hater but it seems to me that the players are not responding to his methods. Probably should have left year. From the two games this year there is no change from last year, attitude to defence is non existent, the propensity for errors is high and the roster is still sub standard. Maybe give Gardiner a go.
Feel a bit for Maguire as he’s been hung out to dry by an absolutely woeful squad of players, but it has to be the end of the road now.
The way we finished last season coupled with the way we’ve started this season shows we’re not improving in any way and despite all the off season puff pieces about attitude improvements and new coaches making all the difference we are going backwards.
He should definitely go but there are only a handful of that starting side who should still be there in 12 months time. The lack of effort today was appalling and a gross insult to members and fans.
There are players there stealing a wage.
We don’t want shifty as coach …. I’d go with Gardner and I’d have Robbie as his assistant.

Top 8 2023
If you go back 7 days, most people were saying the team was playing noticeably different in both attack and defence.
But today was bad and too much like last year. I still want to wait to judge Madge after at least 10-15 games. even if we don’t win the majority, I want to see a committed team showing effort which we didn’t see today.
Our squad would is better next year, but this year our squad is unbalanced - really missing leadership. Don’t know why we didn’t go hard to frizell or finucane last year. not sure if that’s on Madge or admin.
I’m a Madge fan but he needs to seriously pull this team together and do it quickly

@helmesy and that right there typifies the mentality of someone that’s here purely just for a weekly pay cheque and nothing more.
And the so called powers to be allowed these gnome’s to choose him as one of their leaders.

I was ready for him to go at the end of last year, once the club made the decision to stick I had to give him a chance going into this season. Today it was evident that nothing has changed and that press conference was terrible.

I’m starting to think that pre-season hype is as good as it gets for us long suffering WestsTigers fans.
Maguire "I know what this group is capable of."
Well Coach, why can't you get them there?
I'm sure Madge doesn't coach them to be incompotent ill disciplined impatient show ponies

No, that’s right. Only thing is, with that logic Terry Lamb would still be coaching us. Sometimes a guy just doesn’t have the answers/strategies and isn’t right for a position.

The future of Michael Maguire was a hot topic at the end of last season and although he was spared the axe, it won’t be long before the speculation heats up again.
The Tigers have suffered back-to-back losses to start the season with Sunday’s 26-4 performance against the Knights a serious step backwards from last week.
The Tigers kicked off their season on a positive note. Although they went down to the Storm in Round 1, they led at half time and were in the game right up until the final siren.
Whether it was the comedown from such a thrilling opener or the trip up to Newcastle, the Tigers looked a shadow of what they were just eight days earlier.
They completed at 66 per cent as opposed to the Knights’ 91 per cent and conceded 16 errors — more than double Newcastle’s error count.
Maguire tried to remain positive in his post-game press conference. He admitted the performance was “disappointing” but said he had belief in the team.
However, there’s no escaping the ugly truth that if the Tigers can’t string some wins together, it’ll be Maguire’s head on the chopping block.
Matty Johns said that although it’s “unfair” that the coach ultimately pays the price for a team’s poor efforts, it’s just the way game works — which is why he hopes Maguire can turn things around “very, very quickly.”
“Madge wouldn’t want to have many days like he did today,” Johns said on Sunday.
“It’s unfair because he’s not the one going out there but unfortunately in the modern world of coaching, that’s what happens.
“If you don’t get results the first bloke that goes is the coach. So I think he’s going to want to turn this around very, very quickly.”
The Tigers face the Warriors, Titans and Sharks in three very winnable games before taking on the Eels in a western Sydney derby at CommBank Stadium on Easter Monday.

I haven’t seen evidence of him coaching them to do anything. He is absolutely clueless.
I’m not defending the players though, they suck too.

Well he won’t have to revert back to that then 👍 As for Michael I’m not sure where his future is!
I am glad Sheens thinks that 3 seasons and 2 games of failure is a knee jerk reaction !! Him commenting on this is odd as he should of been punted 2 seasons before he was . The club is in a terrible position and it’s all self inflected!
