@tigertownsfs that makes sense . I thought the current capacity was 19k , which is why I figured 22-23k .

The capacity has been reducing gradually over the last 10 years.

@garry hence the need for a rebuild I guess . 16k is dismal. It desperately needs a rebuild then .

The State government seat is a marginal Green seat at the moment. There was a big swing to Labor but they missed by a couple of % at the last election. At a federal level it’s Albo’s seat and he apparently has committed to 50% financing and Darcy obviously supportive. NSW government is in the middle of their budget review right now. Not impossible that something is arranged for LO

That plus the NRL negotiating the GF every year (because state pulled the funding for stadiums) means NRL has some leverage with the state.

Could happen.

Now for Campbelltown to release plans for a 30k stadium

Look I know it would be great to get Leichardt up to scratch. It’s been spoken about for it seems like an age, same goes for Campbelltown. However in the current scheme of things with the economy, is it such a great idea? There’s possibly a recession on the way, wouldn’t it be more wise to spend State and Federal money more wisely?

there is a point where baseline investment is still required to maintain government assets. Where multiple levels are governments are sharing the cost it seems reasonable.

The 100million should be spent on ACCOR to make it the rectangular stadium that was proposed .No matter how much is spent on Leichhardt oval it will always be not big enough and a waste of money!.. really have to face facts !

@garry I'm happy they have understood the significance of the hill (should be heritage listed that hill) and as long as the stands and all other facilities are upgraded.

Yep I'm all for an upgrade to Campbelltown stadium also as it at least also has a second tenant.

In saying that I think the Campbelltown attendances need to improve prior to getting an upgrade.

Its one of the most used grounds in the inner city, used by soccer, league, union, high level adult and school competition. Its money well spent IMO and better value for actual grass roots sport and for taxpayers than replacing the SFS which is only used by elite.

i think you are looking at it through the wrong lens. Would be money well spent even if Tigers dont play there. Also $100M at Accor wouldnt scratch the surface.

They need to make the hill safer. It’s problematic leaving at it is.

Are there any large screens included in the design? Or do we still wheel one in every game day?

Campbletown is a pretty safe Labor seat so not sure if it will get much cash spent on it not many votes in it for the parties.

LO has a slim chance as it is a true community ground, as others have said soccer rugby union rugby league at junior and senior levels

CS has two professional trams playing out of it.

It's deserving of funding
