@frullens I’d imagine in 2025 that Tamworth will be dropped for the Easter game at Homebush

What's your thoughts on Tamworth game?

Given we have 2 home grounds already- it complicates an already complicated equation.

In principle, I'm a supporter of taking a game to the country (as a Wagga boy) - but I think it's a much stronger concept when you have links to that area like Raiders do with Wagga and Panthers do with Bathurst.

I'm not sure if we have any players from Tamworth area? Which is a shame, as I remember Farrar Ag in Tamworth was the strongest school in country NSW when I was growing up.

I’m not a fan of Tamworth at all. We have no obligation as a club to the Tamworth region and I don’t think there is any benefit from playing there. We already split our home games between two grounds. We should be maximising the time we play in the areas where our juniors are based to help ensure that our best kids grow up wanting to play for Wests Tigers. LO will never get more than a token investment to ensure it maintains basic safety and utility. CSS is the ground that is best placed for investment over time and where the council will be most supportive

Going to call this one down the line as I see it...

This is selfish Sydney centric point of view. I believe all clubs should adopt a country area and take a game every season and NRL should even dictate it and help finance it. It helps to grow rugby league as a sport in heartland areas.

Also the Tigers have invested quite a lot in he area, they have played at Tamworth what last 5 years?

You are probably right in the sense that CSS is more likely to get funding for a revamp and it should, but Campbelltown area definitely need to show its support for the club to make this happen.

When it comes to LO I believe the hill area should really be maintained (even heritage listed)... a U-shaped (or even L-shaped) stand with facilities upgrades would be the way to go.

I agree with this and have been saying similar for a while. You could even build rivalries to generate interest across the regions for example if the Tigers are Tamworth and Sharks are Armidale you play one of the rounds with those two teams each year.

If every club did it then maybe but why is it our responsibility to foster country rugby league? We are/have been a basket case for over 10 years. That responsibility should come from the head office and those who are strongest should lead.

@tigertownsfs you are right it should be every ones responsibility and the NRL should send out a directive to clubs to back up the early work the likes of Raiders, Panthers, Tigers & others have already begun.

If we are going to adopt a regional area, we should either a) adopt an area that produces talent (Taree etc) and back it up with support like Penrith does...or b) pick somewhere nice to hang out (Nth Coast)

Not in my top three choices, especially in winter.

Can anyone think of an NRL player taht has come from Tamworth? Certain areas seems to breed them, Taree, Riverina, Central West. Ive never heard of any from Tamworth.

We beat Farrar a few times when I was at school.

As a Muswellbrook/Gunnedah boy I’m going to have to go in to bat for my country music brethren.

Firstly a lot of my family became magpie and Souths supporters due to some big name players coming from the area (ie Dallas Donnelly, John O’Neill). Granted this was from the 70s, but their impact on the community can’t be overstated.

Which leads to my next point, I grew up a massive football fan from 6yrs old yet only went to my first arl match in my mid teens when the roosters and panthers brought a trial game to Muswellbrook. It was a surreal event seeing stars like Brad Fittler in real life. Taking a game to Tamworth might not result in a talent pool or financial return, but I can assure you that some of that community will never meet a “celebrity” in their life, and the chance to see api or klem in person is a very special life experience.

@skippa13 yeah but Gunnedah produced both Miranda Kerr & Erica Baxter, so you can't complain 😁
