@frullens yeah that seems a much more viable idea than the quoted private equity investment in LO. There is a bunch of public car parks and land around the stadium so it might actually not be a silly idea. Cronulla have done that and it would leave Campbelltown council with a more valuable asset in a redeveloped stadium and potentially a new leisure district. Seems smart.
There have already been multiple discussions about the upgrade of Campbelltown Stadium and the surrounding area, so absolutely it is more likely than Leichhardt. Also the use of Campbelltown by the A-League is also a major selling point for an upgrade as two national sporting league clubs are tenants of the stadium.

Leichhardt will never get a major upgrade, it might get refurbished but that’s all. It is in the residential area, homes are literally across the street. The public outcry would be enormous. Locals don’t like it now and would never accept an increase in capacity, those days are long gone.
CCS is a different story altogether. It’s is basically it’s own sports precinct and there is certainly ample room to upgrade to a 25K-30K (or more if they are cleaver) stadium.
The club has been talking about at CoE at Campbelltown with UWS that would incorporate an upgrade including a grandstand. Can’t remember which side they said. They are happy to do things in stages out there while trying to secure different funding avenues.

At the northern end (tennis courts/athletics track).
LO is one if the most used grounds in sydney
I think private equity can get in there and build a big grandstand (like bankwest) at latchem Robinson stand and keep the hill.

I’m not sure how this would work given it’s a publicly owned asset.

I didn't realise it includes a grandstand, I didn't think they mentioned that when CoE was announced. Great news!
Do you know how any seats?

Inner WestLeichhardt Oval: NRLW absent from venue, council mayors write to Wests Tigers CEO Justin Pascoe
There’ll be no NRLW games at Leichhardt Oval this year as one council wrote to the CEO for answers although its dated facilities were blamed. See the letter.

Amid elation among long-suffering Wests Tigers faithful over plans for the men’s side to play more games at Leichhardt Oval, the women’s side have been left out with one Sydney council asking for an explanation.
However, the NRL club have again raised concerns about the venue’s female facilities and said more games could be contingent on better amenities.
“We would be able to commit to more games at the ground (with upgrades) – but there are real challenges when we play there,” Wests CEO Justin Pascoe said, noting the female team had to change in a tent if there was a cross-gender double header.
On Tuesday, this publication revealed Wests would increase their NRL home matches at the beloved ground to five in 2024, dumping CommBank and Accor stadiums.
Inner West Council, who own the ground, have written to Tigers CEO Justin Pascoe asking why the NRLW side have no scheduled games at the Oval this season with none yet committed for 2024.

“We are writing on behalf of the Inner West community to express our disappointment that none of the Tigers NRLW round matches will be played at Leichhardt Oval in 2023 and to seek an explanation as to why,” a letter from mayor Darcy Byrne and deputy mayor Philippa Scott read.
The club, however, explained most of the venue choices were out of their hands and they were hesitant to commit further games at the ground without a facilities uplift.

Next season, the men’s team will play five home games at Leichhardt, five at Campbelltown, and then one apiece at Tamworth and Suncorp.
This season, the NRLW team will play one home game each at Belmore, Broadmeadows, and Campbelltown and two at Parramatta.
Council’s letter called on Mr Pascoe to ensure at least one game at the oval if the team make the finals this season and at least two next season: one regular fixture and one final series, if they qualify.
Ms Scott said although she welcomed yesterday’s move, she was “disappointed” to see the NRLW absent, especially after the “electric atmosphere” during Saturday’s match.

“To see the announcement that the men will now play five games at Leichhardt while the women still don’t have any scheduled at our true home ground is a real blow,” she said.
FIFA will use the ground in July as a training base for Sydney-based Women’s World Cup playing squads.
Football Australia conceded the ground was not up to scratch for continuous use for female elite-level athletes, but “adequate for ad hoc training sessions”.
Tigers CEO Justin Pascoe explained some of the obstacles with NRLW games at the oval.
A Wests Tigers spokesman said the decision was partly out of their hands.
“Of the four ‘home games’ allocated to us in our first season the venues for three of these are controlled by NRL,” he said.
“We only had one game where we had a decision to make on venue, our final game against Newcastle, at Campbelltown Sports Stadium.”
He stopped short of confirming games at the ground next year.
“Both Campbelltown and Leichhardt Oval are options – but much depends on facilities,” he said. “We need facilities at Leichhardt to be improved for females.

“It will be very difficult to have back-to-back male/female games at Leichhardt Oval in its current state – stand-alone games on weekends, however, would be possible.”
The club spokesman said Campbelltown was “more female friendly”, with more changing rooms and space, and most of the playing group were local juniors there.
A Campbelltown Council spokesman said it “welcomed” the return to its stadium and “world class playing surface”, and would “engage with the club” to increase the number of NRLW games.
“Our city is a hotbed for rugby league talent, with significant playing registrations and passionate fans who turn up in large numbers to create an amazing atmosphere and support the Wests Tigers whenever they come,” he said.

Hopefully they've done a masterplan for a 25-30k Stadium and this fits within that.
It would be a shame if the COE has only a limited amount of seating and that then prevented a fully developed ground meeting that 25-30k sweetpot

The state budget has been delayed until September so I guess there is some chance that funds could be allocated to LO/CSS. The COE and CSS was announced by the former government but communication from the club sounds like they are still confident that is locked in. If that could be repackaged into a broader plan to rebuild CSS over time with the local council also contributing to the redevelopment combined with rezoning in the area it would be a phenomenal outcome.

That’s what he spoke about with this being the first part. I did want to ask him questions about the grounds and growth of the club but he disappeared
