@tigertownsfs maybe one game a year at LO may work but the other 11 can't just be at CSS, seriously the club will fold. Didn't work for the Magpies out there in the past and won't work now. likewise LO wouldnt work with all games played there or all games at sfs or accor.
We need some presence in inner west otherwise we give that up to Dogs etc
We need to rip the Band-Aid off. If that means a short term hit on membership, so be it.Do you go to the games, how many do you go and watch? What game was the last one you watched?I just fear if we go to CSS and drop off LO we will have a hell of a backlash.
he’s right. Leichhardt has a really core following of people who will only go there.
Agreed. A new vision is needed
Happy for SFS or Stadium Australia to be part of the mix. My point is the club & council have stated that LO will not be suitable for NRL after 2023. So we need to rip the band-aid off and have a LO exit strategy. I highly doubt one exists and the noise generated is just that, noise without any thought after that.@mike the club won't survive if it is just CSS though.
You would need to have Accor or SFS lined up to take LO place
@mike there is definitely no exit strategy as Pascoe has been saying they want to return to playing all games at Leichhardt and Campbelltown. The club is looking backwards
@mike Lee says lots of things though mate. I don't think any decision on LO would be made for a year or two yet.
You have to wonder why the Bulldogs are not bending over backwards to play more games at Belmore, or why Souths are not begging the NSW government to upgrade Redfern oval.
In fact it only seems to be us and the Dragons who seem to be determined to play out of antiquated sub standard grounds.
Could it be because the administration at these clubs are looking forward instead of continually trying to appease two sides of a joint venture which was created almost of a quarter of a century ago.
@garry I think if you could do one to coincide with the cowboys game at LO it might be interesting to see if it changes any comments
@jedi-tiger I disagree we have gone too far to make a change now. People use this argument for a lot of things but I always think if it’s not working out or not the right way forward then change it. I don’t think we lose or alienate half the fan base. There will be a few people who will walk away but they are probably looking for an excuse to walk.
@the-last-ronin we will see what the club do they know where there members are based I guess. If we move to CSS and they get this one wrong we are dead as a club. Big risk. If they stay as a 50-50 inner city and south west club we might end up ok . Why on earth did we not build the COE at campbletown if CSS was the answer?
@jedi-tiger the club has already stated at Keast twice that the plan is to return to a 50/50 split between Leichhardt and Campbelltown.
They are also well on the way into planning for a CoE at Campbelltown which will be in collaboration with UWS and will be form part of the Campbelltown upgrade.
Just because the club goes down that path doesn’t mean it’s the right thing to do. I’d prefer they go with a bigger stadium for most games (commbank is convenient for me but I’d be happy with SFS) with some games at a Campbelltown and 1 or 2 at Leichhardt similar to the Bulldogs with Belmore. However that is also a mess.
one thing about Leichhardt is it is not really family friendly as it is hard to see from the hill, you have to pay more for seats almost everywhere now, the family section they have is in the corner. This stops people bringing young kids and get into the habit of attending games and become the members/supporters of the future.
I’m not anti Leichhardt I just don’t think it’s a modern stadium that provides the viewing experience people expect these days.
@the-last-ronin fair call I'd be happy with SFS (combank is 10 min walk from me but it is basically parramatta home ground so can't wish for that.
SFS would be acceptable although it is Roosters territory it has always been a neutral venue the sfs right back to the old sports ground days and we even played there (when we were winning). SFS is the best ground in nrl so would be happy if we played a few games there
As for LO I have had the same seat since 1988 balmain days in the laychem stand so view is excellent, if I was on the hill I wouldn't be so keen.
At CSS I have had the same seat on halfway in the stand since 2000 great seats and enjoy the games there too. Just from a survival point of view I fear if we move there full-time.
Before we know it they will be selling 2024 memberships so they better get a clear communication strategy sorted one way or the other
