A $300m stadium at Penrith fora one team city of 200,000 people is a disgrace. They should spend that money across the suburban grounds to keep them up to a bare minimum standard.
now that Stuart Ayres is gone perhaps there can be some changes
wonder if the end solution might be
no upgrade sharks tigers etc
money put into Accor to get a roof on it etc

That would be the worst possible outcome.

Gee that new Allianz Stadium looks impressive. All under cover seating, top shelf corporate facilities, great transport access.

I cant get my head around the Shark Park upgrade from the NSW Govt.
Isnt Shark Park privately owned by the Sharks and they have just finished a major development paying for upgrades? If so, what is the motivation for upgrading a private asset with public money?

no upgrade sharks tigers etc
money put into Accor to get a roof on it etc

I disagree completely.
The best possible outcome for the Tigers and the tax payers would be reverting back to the original plan of a complete redevelopment of Accor stadium into a world class rectangular stadium, similar to Allianz but with a bigger capacity.
The Tigers get a world class ground right in the middle of a "Tigers area" and the state tax payers get an asset which will generate revenue in the form of attracting big events to NSW. Allianz stadium is a great facility but it's too small to compete with the big Melbourne stadia and even with Suncorp.
The state government is going to have to make a decision of some kind on Accor as it can't be left to crumble away and they need to either redevelop it or demolish it which would leave us without a stadium big enough for Grand Finals.
Pulling the funding for Accor to fund public services as was stated at the time is understandable but pulling the funding in order to build a new roofed stadium for one code and one club for around 75% of the cost of a complete redevelopment of Accor was a completely short sighted decision for taxpayers and fans alike.

This i agree with, the problem is I think they will just put a roof on what is already there and make any future redevelopment impossible. The place needs a major redevelopment and that should be the priority before putting a roof on what is a terrible stadium.

@jedi-tiger I beg to differ. The SFS will always be fundamentally a Roosters precinct purely by virtue of its geography.Roosters were formed in Paddo.Sure we potentially can be temporary tenants on any given game day,but that surely isn’t the same thing.
Ask yourself the question, where is the roosters football club and physical football facility located? It’s certainly not Bondi Junction. That is but a pokie den.
For the new Allianz stadium there are three nominal home clubs,as stated in the breakdown, they being theSydney Roosters, the Waratahs, and Sydney FC.And you want to subjectively argue that it’s not a Rooster stronghold with all their financial might, and that the Wests Tigers can gain some sort of advantage in the area.Im sure that the game day experience and facilities will be second to none, but I can’t for a minute envisage the WTs management and board wanting to go down this path.
Surely we have to dream bigger, and create our own footprint. From a selfish perspective I could utilise SCG membership but looking to the future we have to stand alone rather than being perennial orphans and drifters.

I reckon there will be a change in the strategy now that Ayres has resigned. His fingerprints are all over the Penrith stadium rort and I really can't see this going ahead now.
There's an opportunity there for our board to ask some searching questions about this and agitate for a complete redevelopment of Accor rather than pursue a piece meal approach with CSS and LO, neither of which are fit for purpose in their current form and very unlikely to have enough funds allocated to address their deficiencies.
I'm all for making a decision of the home ground as soon as possible but we shouldn't rush in to a solution unless we are sure that its the best one for the clubs long term future. If we can't get any clarity on Accor I would be signing up to play most of our games at Allianz with a few at CSS/LO for maybe 3-5 years or until the Homebush situation is clearer.
Push hard for redevelopment of Accor as homebush is a tigers area
play one or 2 games at LO and CSS
@tiger-symmetry when we were flying in 2010 ans the like we had home games at SFS no problem
@garry they need the roof for events abd if the government is fitting the bill they are entitled to get a roof onto the stadium for other things other than rugby league as a venue
In case anyone needs reminding what the original plan for Accor stadium was before the funding was pulled, how good would this be.

The issue that is currently holding up the announcement are complications related to next year, I'd maybe announce the plan for next year and hold off locking in long term.
If Accor gets a full redevelopment then I would be happy for the vast majority of our games to be played there, but I doubt that happens as they were looking at around a $800m-1B d for it to be done properly.
