Wests Tigers have launched “The Hill” at Commbank Stadium.

https://www.weststigers.com.au/news/2025/03/25/introducing-the-hill/

What are your thoughts??

Good idea but needs to be implemented well.

agree would want to see it in action first, o am not so sure if you  an replicate the leichardt hil and it might be the butt of jokes if they try

As for the Campbelltown hill well thst is behind the goals so a different feel

unfortunately no votes in it for Liechardt or campbletown from the politicians

You’d have to say they’ve been implementing things pretty well lately.

This standing area will be behind the goals as well.

Not sure it'll be overly popular as a result.

At least its an attempt to take someone else's home ground (Eels) and making it your own.

Launching it on Easter Monday is a genius way to unsettle Parra fans from thinking its a home game.

Hope it works out as a success.

Is it only open to tigers members? If I was the eels I’d encourage my members to buy it out

Isn’t it up to the supporters to make it popular, to make it unique to this club, 1000 supporters doing the claw, chanting etc. Seems like a great opportunity to make something special at CommBank.

Not sure too many Parra supporters will be turning up to the game if they keep performing poorly. There were more Dogs supporters at the game there on the weekend.

It was a case of another game at Campbelltown Stadium, another heart breaking loss for the Wests Tigers last night.

The 26-24 defeat to the Warriors means the Tigers are two wins from four NRL premiership matches so far this season.

Both defeats have been by just two points, and both suffered at Campbelltown.

What was particularly noticeable last night was that the black and gold jerseys were in the minority in the stands, and on the two hills behind the goalposts.

In other words, there were more Warriors fans in attendance than Wests Tigers supporters. And there were many seats empty, as well.

The weather would not have helped – it was alternately gusty winds or showers much of the day in Campbelltown and across the Macarthur region.

But the best of fans support their team, rain, hail or shine.

Unless of course the cost of tickets is beyond ridiculous: which is exactly what is charging $35 for a child to sit on the hill.

Shane Richardson, [Wests Tigers CEO] you’ve got to be kidding.

I think looking at such prices it’s fair to ask if the Tigers are really serious about Campbelltown or do they just want to plunder our vast juniors base?

And something else along the same lines: the footy team, the coach and his entourage, they are all invisible in this part of the joint venture.

There’s no build up to home games at Campbelltown, no fan days, no media days, they just rock up a few hours before kick off, play for the 80 minutes, shower and leave.

Well, it’s no surprise then that the results here at Campbelltown are nothing to write home about.

Whatever their real intentions are, the Wests Tigers are shooting themselves in the foot with regard to how they treat their Campbelltown fans.

Oh, and this year they are also asking these fans to travel to Parramatta for home games.

I hear the ticket prices are much cheaper to attend at Parramatta, in the heart of the enemy, the Eels.

Richo, pull the other one, mate.

Fair enough. A lot more needs to be done in Campbeltown.

my opinion on campbletown is kind of like the area is built up with families who have moved from other parts of Sydney to campbletown/south-West to buy homes etc and are fans of other clubs e.g. Parramatta dogs dragons etc priornto moving to campbletown

it is not a magpie stronghold they only moved out the campbletown mid 80's and were a dying club at thst stage the real root for magpies are lidcombe

As for Leichardt, the basket weavers have infiltrated at balmain so they are not a strong area either

I still wonder if dogs and Tigers will push for a  liverpool shared stadium, if that is the case perhaps we as a club are better playing most games at Parramatta or who knows a redeveloped homebush (close to concord and wests ashfield)

The ticket prices are an issue, and they're even worse at Leichhardt. That said, given they are close to selling out most games at both, it's hard to argue with the supply/demand factor.

I find these articles/opinion pieces a bit tedious to be honest. It's been a stated goal of the new Richo administration to have more of a presence in the SW, and they've started to do so.

The 'build up' factor is a bit of a furphy - what are they genuinely expecting? They had a schools blitz a week or two ago, across 40+ schools in the SW (and inner west). There are free clinics happening in the SW in the school hols in a few weeks.

End of the day, the club has a massive footprint across Sydney. It can't be everything to everyone at all times.

There have definitely been issues with how they have serviced certain areas at times, but there is a clear focus on the SW at present, which the author is ignoring.

So we have hills at our 2 traditional home grounds.

Then prostitute ourselves out for more money to a place with no hill, and have to create a hill feel.

But you are in a seated area where you just stand. So you are paying not to use the seats.

Well Richo is a genius if he get people to pay to pretend a stand with seats is a hill.
