Wests Tigers five-eighth Luke Brooks is in the firing line and set to be dropped for the first time in his 185-NRL game career.
Interim Wests Tigers coach Brett Kimmorley is poised to make the hard line decision after the Tigers back-to-back losses since the sacking of Michael Maguire.
Local junior Brooks has never been axed since making his Wests Tigers debut in 2013.
The Tigers five-eighth has played under six coaches in his ten-year tenure at Concord in Mick Potter, Jason Taylor, Andrew Webster, Ivan Cleary, Maguire and now Kimmorley.
Brooks’ first kick of Sunday’s loss to Canterbury-Bankstown resulted in a seven tackle set.
The five-eighth then went on to miss four tackles and put another kick out on the full in the 62nd minute when the Tigers were down 24-6 and attacking the Bulldogs tryline.
The Wests Tigers have also been dealt another major injury blow with hardworking middle forward Alex Twal expected to be ruled out for the remainder of the season due to concussion protocols.
Twal was concussed in the opening set of Sunday’s loss to the Bulldogs, which is his second concussion for the season.
But the Tigers are advising Twal to take a cautious approach given the way he plays the game and it’s expected he will miss the remainder of the season and World Cup duties with Lebanon at the end of the year.
Tigers interim coach Kimmorley is considering going where no other coach before has gone and dropping Brooks to NSW Cup with Western Suburbs.
After denying reports he asked for a release to join the Newcastle Knights in the off-season, Brooks has again endured a season of mixed bag results for the Tigers.
When Jackson Hastings was initially selected at halfback the view was it could set Brooks free to focus on his greatest strength — his running game.
Victories over Parramatta and South Sydney showed promising signs with Brooks kicking the winning field goal against the Rabbitohs but the Tigers have since won one game out of their last seven.
That was against Canterbury-Bankstown in Round 11 when Brooks missed the game.

We’re done anyways mate… but will be a hard watch the remaining games. I’ll believe the Brooks dropping tomorrow week but lots can happen in tiger town between now and then. The soap opera continues.
On a side note if channel 10 are looking for a new soapie after the demise of neighbours…. Look no further than ‘Tigertown’ 🤣😁😂
No try for Twal this year then. It was my one glimmer of hope for the rest of the season. Bugger.
The Brooks call was needed hopefully there has been movement in the coaching rank and these decisions are to see how others work together Brooks dropped / Peachy gone in one day interesting … Bad luck for Twal but that’s the way it is these days .
Team Tuesday should be interesting
You got your boots polished ???

Nah.. I’m done.
No one will want to pick up Peachey, no one wanted him when he came on market and I dont believe anything would have changed the way he is playing
When Twal goes down after 90 seconds, that is objectively game over.We are too compromised in the middle even before kickoff and have to be on best behaviour let alone suffer that sort of body blow to our middle.I agree with Garry’s sentiments re Marshall-King.We made him look so much better than he is....twice!If Twally is there it’s a much tighter ship.
Ok it wasn’t Luke’s finest game, but it seems to me that there is an overriding desire amongst a lot of folk to single him out and make him the scapegoat without attention to context. That’s patently unfair. We’re not winning the collision and we roll the dice on a lightweight bench and we are found out.Furthermore we had to accomodate AD’s return.
Brooks doesn’t deserve scapegoat status, and still puts his body in front of all the traffic sent in his direction. He wasn’t responsible for that loss even though he did err on a couple of occasions.
Another crud article emanating from the Fox sewers.Brooks Is not the cause of our woes.
Not good to hear the news about Twal. I hope he is ok. As for dropping Brooks, I’m not against but I think our bigger problem is with our ineffective forwards. Perhaps by dropping Brooks Kimmorley is sending a message.
here is a great idea peachey is on 750k and brooks 1.1 million for 2023
why don't we pay 450k for peachey and 750k for brooks to play elsewhere.
way to blow 1.2 million of our cap for 2023
