In regards to Junior retention, this is why I think we need some kind of Draft system boys.

I know this has been a discussion point for a long long time (and always brushed off as something that would not work in Rugby League) and it works well for AFL (as far as I'm aware).

Bottom teams like the Tigers will benefit and it will allow them to recognise the best developing players (of their own and from other teams) coming through and lock them in and they should remain "untouchable" in a development/training squad that other teams cannot poach or even be approached.
NSW Cup & QLD Cup teams would also benefit with these Draft selections and it might increase the interest in these competition if teams feeder teams are stacked with the best of the Draft selections.

Sick of the big teams who feed off other team's development work.

Citing injuries as the reason we lost is just an excuse and if we keep accepting excuses our club will forever be a bottom four club.

The fact is that RL is a tough game and every club has injuries to deal with.

Our issue is that our depth signings are barely even state cup level and that’s down to utterly inept recruitment.

I’m citing injuries as a major contributor as to why we lost. And that’s not excuse making.

I fully agree with this.

I feel like we could be 1-2 more wins higher up the ladder if we'd made better roster decisions in the off season.

The James Roberts signing was not justified.

It will be interesting to see if we pull players into the squad this week now that NRL clubs can choose from outside the Top 30.

In the press conference last night, Madge made reference to AJ and Nofa returning.

Rumours of AD having a fitness test today for inclusion on Friday.

Declan: Talking about your disappointment in how we fell away tonight

Our Effort in a match with 15 players (1 playmaker) vs excuses for results & not making the 8 are completely different arguments.

Yes, we let in some soft tries, but holy shit they were dry retching towards the end, exhausted....I would've expected most sides to fall apart in that situation.
Even when they blew us up the middle with that try before halftime, our players were dropping like flies and weren't in the defensive line to cover.

Listening to coaches press conference I’m not sure he agrees with your opinion about the defence

@garry some good goss there wow! Assuming he comes in at 5/8 if fit

I was actually looking forward to jock madden getting a prolonged go alongside JH.

We just need wins though so of course AD gets priority

Injuries are part and parcel of Rugby League.. they certainly have an effect on results..

Looking at all Clubs (No. of Top 30 players out)
Brisbane (5), Canberra (6) Dogs (5) Sharks (3) Gold Coast (1) Manly (8) Storm (6) Knights (5) Cows (1) Parra (5) Penrith (0) Souths (6) Dragons (5) Rorters (4) Warriors (4) Wests Tigers (12)..

I want what's in the water at the Pamfers..

Storm for example lose Papenhuyzen and Hughes and where thumped by the Pamfers having won their past 3 games by plenty..

Great research @geo

12 out of 30 is a fair impact - particularly when we would need a full strength squad for every game to even have a chance of making the 8 this year

Storm lost 32-6 to 1st place Panthers

We lost 36- 12 to 3rd place cowboys

Storm missed fullback and halfback

We missed fullback, halfback, hooker, winger, 2 centres

@yanni @celtic_tiger You don't need to blame injuries if you don't want to, but to simply ignore it as a major factor is not being truthful.

Nrl is a game of small margins which can make a big impact

It’s a completely absurd reasoning to say that injuries don’t affect the output or result and are no excuse.

If you as a team are missing 12 out of 30,how can it not be a factor relating to performance? How can it be that missing over a third of our squad is just an excuse?Nobody likes losing, but this is the harsh reality.Under the circumstances I believe we’re showing so much determination and resolve and when the reinforcements come we’ll turn it around in spades.

In regards to your comments on James Roberts I believe they are completely off the mark.If his signing was unjustified I believe he put that to bed.He was our best centre up to the time he was injured and certainly was performing miles above his minimum wage status.

If James Roberts was our best centre up until his injury as you say that just confirms all that is wrong with recruitment at this club. Roberts whould not make any other team as a centre in this day and age. As for the reinforcements there’s only 3 players that whould help improve the side
