I do agree with Declan regarding only 2 or 3 teams having good depth beyond that top 20. Broncos are a case in point, they have a very strong top 21 or 22 but it slides away after that. We have a very strong 18 or 19. I have believed since watching our defeat at Bathurst last year that 2026 would be our year. You could see the young talent we had & you knew they would improve 2025 & 2026, Jahream, Sam, Fonua, Latu, TDS etc. And there was Luke, Makasini & a few others coming through. There was massive improvement in them all but they needed better players around them. And then Richo comes in and with Benji starts to bring those players in. I’m extremely confident they’ll bring in another 2 or 3 players who will, again, improve the squad. We might play finals this year, we might not but I am very confident next year we will in the top 8, if not top 4.

Luai was also coming to the club as he’d signed a few months prior to that game at Bathurst. And his signing was important because the side lacked mental toughness.

I am with Declan and struggle to have faith that we can (and will) win this one against Melbourne, in Melbourne. Happy to be proven wrong. Just hoping for a strong showing and a poor performance from Stephano.

Joel, you forgot Blore when trying to impose the rule of 4 but that still only gets them to 3.

I would strongly support either Fifita or Pearce-Paul as a great acquisition for our team and I am sure that both Benji and Richo are monitoring their availability as we speak. Not so long ago Richo did promise a couple of signings and they are possibly due to be announced anytime now.

Loved the pod and am looking forward to the milestone episode #400 after the game.
