Wests Tigers Podcast - Talking everything Wests Tigers!
Just thinking about the first 20 minutes and our lack of impact, I think we will see improvement once Api gets a few games under his belt. There’s no doubt he was a little rusty last week & I think that didn’t help with our go forward from the boppers. I think we’ll get better as he gets back to his best.

Good point, in retrospect he did seem a bit rusty.

there were also a few occasions when the ball runners/decoys got their timing wrong. This should improve as the combinations settle
Yes, this is actually not such a bad thing because if they can stay healthy then there’s little doubt they will get sharper.Just thinking about the first 20 minutes and our lack of impact, I think we will see improvement once Api gets a few games under his belt. If anyone watched the Wests SG Ball side rd 1 they would’ve seen something similar, getting used to new combos etc. Balmain Ball side much better probably due to their spine including Haywood & Tannous who kept it simple & carried out their roles well, the fullback helps of course. Wests now have Oittman at fullback & the combos are better & they’ve won their past 3 after losing first 3.
I hope I’m wrong but I still feel like we are jumping the gun a little with our excitement.
Take out the panthers storm game last night, and after 2 games we have the highest missed tackles, second worst penalties conceded in the comp, both major issues from last year. Both of our games had key moments where we made mistakes at key times but the opposition didn’t capitalise.
I know we have new recruits and things look hopeful, but we literally just ended a 7 game losing streak and I’ve seen this false dawn many times before.

I don’t think anyone is getting carried away with one win, just enjoying the win last week. I think there is reason to be positive especially given the firm of the guys who have come to the club, early days but look good so far. It seems better than previous years mainly, to me anyway, that they’ve brought with them a culture change, they want to give the club a better culture, a new club to some extent. There’s little doubt Romey, Tito, Jack & Benji are leading that change. Quite a few of the players who have been here for a few years are also passing that 50-60 game mark so they’re becoming experienced NRL players & the balance of youth & experience seems right. We
will still need some things to go right quite obviously especially injuries but the early signs are promising and that’s something to be happy about.
We will be 3 games in and not a single NRL first grade debut...already an improvement on last year!
