The hot topic on this edition of the Wests Tigers Podcast centres on whether (allegedly) want-away Bulldogs centre Bronson Xerri is coming to us.

Coming on the back of several articles linking the specialist left centre to the Wests Tigers, we take a look at where he might fit into our backline, who might have to make way, and what he would bring. Also on this edition of the Wests Tigers Podcast, we take a look at the new connected Wests Tigers playing group, how they are saying, and doing this differently, and how this connection and bond helped us secure the services of Kai Pearce-Paul. There's also a look at the South Sydney match this Saturday night in Gosford, including some fearless (and one or two possibly fearful) predictions! And we also raise the question, which we'd love you to have your say on at the Wests Tigers Podcast Forum, what should be the name of the new grandstand being built at Leichhardt Oval? We hope to catch you for a post-victory edition of the Wests Tigers Podcast on Sunday night. In the meantime, though, thanks for listening!

I havent listened to the pod yet, but I dont need to to answer this question. Xerri is not coming to the Tigers. Its based on a ridiculous article that actually says within the article that there is zero evidence, indication or even rumour that he is coming to the Tigers and the fact remains that he he supposedly wants to leave a top 4 side because he doesnt want to play right centre and at the Tigers he has at least Taylan May and Makasini in front of him at left centre and Toa ahead of him at right centre.

It was not that long ago when all the talk was that our backline was set and we needed an extra prop and a number 13. One game into the season and our pack is looking strong, Twal is playing out of his skin at13, the halves combo is working and the backline seems to be our area of deficiency.

Such is the roller-coaster ride that is being a Wests Tigrs Fan!!!!!

I wonder whether there is something else to the Xerri / Bulldogs story that we don't know. We spoke about your question last night too

There are gears turning in the background I’m sure.

Perhaps there’s also a debate which needs to open about 2027 recruitment targets? It seems To’a might have some question marks on his future and May might not be as robust an option as we thought.

So I heard......"Thanks for your service Starford". Throwing out a guy who has been arguably one of our best at times and who always puts in 100%, based on zero actual knowledge and zero medical knowledge of his injury, in fact calling it a "mystery" injury. The club has said exactly what his injury is, its not a mystery to them or Starford and its not to the fans. What makes it a "mystery" to you guys?

This is a rugby league club and injuries happen and we have staff to look after it. As fans we should back the club and more importantly back the players. Our club currently has 3 first grade centres, two of them potentially elite and the other has been our best centre for many years. There is not one club in the NRL that carries 4 first grade quality centres, it would be salary cap suicide.

On what planet is Bronson Xerri going to leave a top 4 club to be the third of fourth rated centre and sit in cup waiting to fill in with injury?

With fans like us.................

True, but relying on a guy who is repeatedly sitting in the stands isn’t good business either.

This club has to win games and that comes from being ruthless.

"repeatedly sitting in the stands"?

Toa played 19 games last year in the centres and was our best and most consistent centre all year. he played more games at centre than anyone and had 5 centre partners during the season.

He played more games than Bula, Pole, Seyfarth, and 20 other players for that matter.

Chewing up Bronson Xerri worth of salary cap to play in reserve grade for 2-3 years in a mass panic because we have a short term injury issue in the centres is exactly the sort of pants wetting that has resulted in us being rubbish for 15 years.

Ruthless or brainless? Good luck re-signing Bula, Sa Fainu, Mays x 2, Makasini etc with $500-600K sitting in reserve grade.

I’m more than happy for the club to be ruthless across the squad if it means consistent success.

To’a has always been a bit unreliable in regards to injuries (earlier hamstring injuries come to mind) and I don’t think it’s unreasonable to consider other options.

And, after last night, the same for Doueihi?
