I was working in the Burwood area today and managed to watch the squad train at St Luke’s Oval for 30 minutes or so. A very intense session of ball work, hitting the pads at speed. 3 groups rotating, one attacking, one defending and the other running, not much of a break for that 30 minutes. Fonua looked to be ok, Latu also was able to absorb some light contact but was sharp. Royce does indeed appear to be fitter & a lot of young players very keen. Star only ran & Taylan still rehabbing his hammy but both looked fit & strong.

@russtutty63 thanks for the update. It would be interesting to know who was playing right centre in different groups given Star was not training?

It just doesn't seem like he has any competition for that spot with Masi, Taylan and Luke L all better suited to the left side.

Patrick Herbert played a bit of both left and right. I went again today for 30 minutes and he’s looking quite good actually, vocal, providing a bit of good contact & fitting in well with the group. Taylan was running a bit more, he’s not far away from joining these drills. AD & Latu both playing at 7 today, the squad divided into 2 teams. Jahream was there, running a little, Sol Saukuru also back. Jack Bird there, has had a minor issue the past week or so but looks strong. Ethan Roberts & Javon Andrews are big young fellas. Some decent contact during the ball sessions which were once again intense, very little rest. These drills also working on defence.

I think Twal goes back to prop and that leaves May, Afoa, Hunt, Sione and Pole. Might be enough.

I think we’ll be competitive but I agree another good middle is what we need to give it a real shake this season. Wouldn’t shock to see Christian Tapau-Moors press for a spot in the 17 at some point this season despite turning 19 next March. But looking for a starter would be great.
