https://www.weststigers.com.au/teams/nrl-premiership/wests-tigers/solomone-saukuru

Suggests Faagutu and Saukuru are both top 30 in 2025 and Saukuru is contracted for another extra season until the end of 2026!

That would take us to 30 NRL contracted players if it is correct.

Every time I come to this thread I honestly shake my head. For 2025 as it stands:

15 of the Top 30 contracted players will have played LESS THAN 50 NRL GAMES

9 of the Top 30 will have played LESS THAN 10 NRL GAMES.

How on earth could Pascoe & his recruitment and retention committee have stuffed up so bad? I would hate to think what some of these player contracts look like as well. With so many rookies it's reasonable to conclude that WT would be way under the salary cap but I seriously doubt it.

There wont be any turnaround for our club until at least 5-6 of these rookies are moved on. It's flat out criminal to have signed so many unproven players.

Without having studied other teams, it's reasonable to conclude that the average NRL squad should be made up of

6 development players

4-5 rookies on top 30 deals

10 players with 20-100 NRL games experience

10 with 100-200 NRL games

4-5 players with 200+ games

Everyone comes here in the hope of finding out about player signings in the hope of better things in 2025. The reality is we don't even have the roster spots to turn the club around next year!

Yeah it’s depressing, if only we could get rid of Bateman, Toa, Tumeth, Naden and Sullivan.

We’re at 29 players. Fa’agatu has departed.

Sione Fainu not signed.

I would say at least two more move on, probably Douehi and at least one of Feledy/Matamua. Probelm with the rest is we are paying them too much (Sullivan) and/or could be seen as a liability on the field (Naden). So three open spots gives us the ability to sign Sione and maybe pick up Terrell May and Hethrington or keep a spot open for another player that may suddenly become available.
