I can't wait to read his book. WT should buy 20 copies and circulate amongst the staff. We could learn alot from him and Penrith in general.

But he walked out without acknowledging the fans at all. It was a gutless act.

Maybe we could just sign him as a coach and then we won't need to read his book. Oh yeah we did that but he did a runner.

If there’s one thing that has been proven it’s that Ivan without Nathan is probably not a premiership winning coach.

Not true, he got a roster worse than ours now to 9th, and he got Warriors to a GF too. Love him or hate him, he's a hell of a coach, and I really wish he had have stayed. The way he left was bad, but I don't dislike him, and faced with the option of staying with a club that's awful, vs going to a fantastic club where he can coach his son, I totally understand why he left. I'd have done the same thing.

Him leaving had some serious ramifications for the club though, most notably signing Madge who took a team that finished 9th to the abyss, to which we may never recover.

That is incredible in hindsight. I don’t think there is a single player I would swap compared to our current team. Maybe Kevin naqaima for Staines, but I felt Kev was phoning it in sometimes, especially in defence. How we came 9th with that team is remarkable

it’s been so long since we’ve had good coaching we’ve forgotten what it looks like. Getting that team to 9th is an incredible achievement.

Wests Tigers Podcast Forum member 'Peter A' has floated the idea of making a coaching change to Brad Arthur. This has started some discussion on the latest Wests Tigers Podcast about Benji's future with the clipboard.

Where are you guys in regards to this? Do we stick with Benji, and if so, for how long?

Do we need a more experienced mentor? Or can we afford to stick with Benji while he gains this experience?

I reckon Benji will be a great coach in time but should have done a full apprenticeship. The question is: would Benji swallow his pride and be an assistant until he is truly ready?

At this stage I say we ride it out. We are coming off of 3 spoons. Last year everyone was saying that we need to be patient  cos it is gonna take a long time to turn this ship around. We are now in that turning phase. You can't go from last to first in an off season. Eary season success with a softer draw has set the bar higher than it should be.

I don't want Brad Arthur, he had some incredible teams at Parra and was not able to do much with them. One GF I believe in his whole time there a few more finals appearances. They would come out full of fire and brimstone to start the season and then begin to fade. Brad is not the answer. The reality is that we need stability in our club and we probably need a few additional specialist coaches for our younger kids. I don't mind Benji staying on as head coach as long as he has the coaching staff around him and he puts his trust in them to deliver. One of the rumours I have heard is that he can be quite stubborn and it's his way or the highway, hopefully this is not true. I don't mind if he backs himself, however not to the detriment of the club.

Benji has shown he can recruit and he has made some improvements in our performance, particularly around attitude and scramble in defence and some structures but improvement this year seems to be now limited. I think the Galvin situation has also made his life difficult. I think you reassess at the end of the year after we see what Latu can do and see who else we can recruit

I think I’ll pass on the months of coach speculation and player unrest articles in the media thanks. Especially if the ‘upgrade’ is Brad Arthur.

We are pot committed with Benji and other than his whack use of the bench, I don’t think there is enough to warrant concern at this stage. Continue to surround him with good support and it will pay dividends in a couple of years time.

My take is that the club went all in on Galvin, either because they saw him as a player to build the team around or because they did not want to deal with the inevitable fallout of another young gun leaving the Tigers, or maybe a combination of both. To this end the whole club and playing system was put in place to keep him happy and get him to re-sign/extend. I was perplexed as to why Luai just kept feeding him the ball whenever he asked for it and we kept going left in attack when our most potent centre and winger where on the right. It probably goes some way to explaining the falling out with Bateman, unless I have missed it the guy loves to take a dig at us yet has been quiet about the Galvin move. maybe his blow up was not directed solely at Benji but at Galvin as well, therefore his position became untenable in order to keep the golden child happy. It will take a few weeks for all of this to wash out as we re0adjust and play how we should have from day 1. The bigger issue we have is that we are now down 2 middles in Pole and Twal so a few of the others need to step up. And for Gods sakes Hunt is not a starting forward! start Sione and maybe bring Kit onto the bench.
