Sheens with Robbie and Benji as assistants is seeming very likely
Benji couldn’t have been more explicit on NRL 360. He basically wants a defined apprenticeship where he is not just assistant but the junior head coach with an agreed role as head coach at some point in the future

benji says he doesn’t know anything about the current situation and that nobody has come to him to discuss coaching. It’s just more speculation.
Since Madge was sacked I can’t find any quotes from Payten where he denies an interest in coaching WT.
Either way, last time he was asked about the Tigers this is what he said

But a Sheens mentoring Robbie and Benji for one to take over - puts us in a pretty strong position:
- sheens is senior enough to deflect the media pressure for next couple of years
- Benji and Robbie get a full coaching apprenticeship and help develop a WT brand
- Benji and Robbie will attract new players significantly more than Morris, Peyton, Cilardo or any other coach
- strengthening the WT identity, something we've been accused of lacking, particularly important as a development club
- feels right as compared to appointing just another senior coach Green, Flanagan etc

Benji is a funny one- I swap between feeling he's a toxic influence to feeling he's the heart and soul of the club

To be honest none of us really know these guys credentials as a coach, because they havent been tested and they should have to earn the right to coach NRL.
Ive heard many people say that Billy Slater was always destined to coach be cause he apparently has like a genius level understanding of the game and techniques and often ran training at the Storm. I assume Cronk has that same level of knowledge. Do Robbie and Benji have that? We dont really know but Benji's play was obviously instinctive.
This is a definitive moment for this club … It’s all going to end in tears this coaching stupidity ! Just the fact that Sheens sacked Maguire and could take his job shows me what type of people run this organisation. I am actually ashamed as a supporter this has happened to Maguire now ,am soul searching whether to be bothered with this club to be frank after 6 decades.

I wanted to firstly say thank you for supporting our club for 60 years! And ask that you consider staying strong - and sharing the WT journey with us a little longer.
I was a big madge supporter, 1 because I loved his passion, but 2 because I wanted stability for the club and to avoid this type of mess. I do think that he wasn't treated well by the club. And to think Sheens reviewed and sacked him, may himself be appointed as coach - it doesn't feel right.
But, I do believe that this mess will eventually lead to much needed reform and substantial change for the club as either:
- the Sheens coaching option works and we improve as a club - with a mentored successor taking over and everyone is happy
OR
- the Sheens coaching option DOESNT work, and the blow torch is then applied to front office - with changes made there and the club set up for success- and everyone is happy

Sheens coaching is going to be an absolute disaster. If you can't achieve success in 2nd tier English Rugby League are you really going to find it at NRL level? The reports of Benji and Robbie being groomed for the role highlight the issues we have had at the Tigers for years -- fairytales. Everything we do is designed to fit some incredible fairytale that usually turns to poo once reality smacks it in the face.I've been a Tigers fan since 1983/84...but if we go down this path, we will well and truly continue to be in the poo.You couldn’t make this stuff up!!! The only bloke who will take the job was the bloke who sued the club after being sacked by the same club!!!
