Sheens looks set to be announced next week, I'm guessing Robbie as an assistant

My guess is Robbie and Kimmorley as assistants running most of the training with Sheens overseeing.

@jedi-tiger What a laugh if that’s true .. Farah as assistant coach who has ZERO coaching experience even for this club that’s an over reach. So Sheens sacks Maguire so he can have his job does anyone at the club see what this looks like is there any thought process at all in that organisation , Sheens has been an also ran since 2005 sacked everywhere he has been since , only at the Weststigers the club that lives in the past could this happen !

Tim Sheens is reportedly set to be locked in as head coach of the Wests Tigers.

News Corp journalist Phil Rothfield revealed on NRL 360 on Monday that the head of football will step into the high-pressure role that Michael Maguire was sacked from last month.

Rothfield also believes club legends Benji Marshall and Robbie Farah will be a part of Sheens’ staff, as will interim coach Brett Kimmorley.

“I think next week the Wests Tigers will probably appoint Tim Sheens as coach,” Rothfield said.

“I think the framework is what they are looking to build around Tim for the future and for him to the mentor the right people to eventually take over in two year’s time.

“What will that framework look like, is Brett Kimmorley in the picture? Is Benji Marshall, Robbie Farah, people like that?

“Yes, I think they all are and that’s what Justin Pascoe and Lee Hagipantelis and the board at the Wests Tigers have got to decide on.”

It comes after The Sydney Morning Herald reported last week that Tigers powerbrokers had approached Sheens to gauge his interest in taking over as head coach.

Pathetic if true. This club deserves all the rubbish it cops from the media. This has been handled atrociously.

Got to keep it in the family 😆 I guess time will tell, if at least Sheens can steady us and the squad can be improved in the next 12 months it might turn out ok.

He’d still be our quickest winger.

@helmesy After more than a decade of failure this is what’s offered up by the club to move forward . IMO this is NOT good enough a 72 yr old well past his prime and an ex player with Zero coaching experience this is a slap in the face to all that support this club .. this has to be the lowest ebb the club has ever dished up to the supporters that  have held fast for all the failures the club has given us . The  club is the joke of the league signed sealed and delivered!!!!

There’s nothing we can do as fans but to sit and watch, unfortunately. I understand and share your concerns and frustrations.

Very similar style of football to what has been played the last couple of years, though the game is slowing down again now. Madge has shown no ability to adapt, Sheens won 4 premierships spread across 2 decades. Sheens has a coaching tree that extends far and wide. It is unfair on Madge to compare the 2, they aren't even in the same class.

Are you talking about the same Sheens who last coaching gig was Widnes a town of 60k in the 2nd division in UK and only lasted 7 games?

😉

We don't have to watch. I'm finding football very hard to watch this year and this saga has extinguished the last glimmer of light.

We've spent ten years trying to exorcise the 'boy's club' and our solution to the coaching issue is to re-instate it.  Robbie with no experience, Sheens with string of recent failures and Benji - who I love - but who plays an instinctive style of football which can't easily be coached.

To have a football manager responsible for sacking the coach and then appointing himself is laughably unprofessional. We're at a very low ebb and the wooden spoon will be the final scape from the bottom of the disaster barrel.

How anyone could think we're better off right now than we were 6 weeks ago is mystifying. The club has learnt nothing from its failures - the delusions are all encompassing.

And you were talking about a coach who in his last coaching gig took a side on the fringe of the 8 and turned them into a side contending for the spoon.

We need Sheens to assist the club in developing a footballing identity that supersedes him as coach. The assistants need to be steeped in this to ensure that we don’t have a rebuild every time we lose a coach.

Personally I’d take Nathan Brown. He runs hard and we can use some more starch and experience in the middle.

So predictions for assistants? I'm guessing Kimmorely and Robbie

I hope Robbie is involved and Benji too. Maybe it is nostalgia, but I’d love for us to play that expansive game again that defined the Sheens/Benji/Robbie era..

Maybe even through Fitzhenry in there as an assistant as well. 🤣

When I interview Tim last weekend, he made the joke about everyone  saying Fitzy was his son.

Fitzhenry cops heaps and sometimes deserved, but geez he was good 05.
